Summary of Role:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced geodetic and land specialist to join our team in the Philippines. The ideal candidate will be a licensed geodetic engineer with and have a strong background in geodetic surveying, mapping, and spatial data analysis, with specific experience or interest in the solar and wind energy sector. This role requires a deep understanding of local laws and regulations pertaining to land use, permitting, land ownership, environmental protection, and renewable energy projects. The candidate should be experienced working with the authorities that manage land in the Philippines and have experience with negotiating with landowners.


What You Will Do:

  • Information gathering and data acquisition
    • Establish contacts within the various municipal, provincial and local government units where MRP is developing projects to secure the most up to date cadastral, topographical and zoning information.
    • Ensure MRP has the most up to date versions of all relevant maps and understand the timelines and workstreams for local map updates.

   

  • Surveying and Mapping:
    • Prequalification and selection of contractors. Review and approve contracts, H&S documentation, survey returns ensuring compliance with Mainstream technical and HSSE standards.
    • Take ownership of all site based work and the management of consultants and contractors commissioned to gather and update geospatial and topographic information. Being site based as required, manage and supervise detailed geodetic and topographic surveys to support the planning, design, and construction of wind and solar energy projects.
    • Ensure the use of the most advanced and appropriate surveying techniques, equipment, and technologies to collect accurate geospatial data, suitable for the project stage and budget.
    • Working closely with the GIS team, ensure the creation and maintenance of detailed maps, plans, and charts for project sites, ensuring compliance with local standards.

 

  • Reporting, Compliance and Regulatory Affairs:
    • Prepare and present detailed reports, including topographic surveys, boundary surveys, and as-built surveys, to support project development and regulatory compliance.
    • Ensure all surveying and mapping activities comply with the Philippine laws, regulations, and standards, particularly those related to land use, environmental protection, and renewable energy.
    • Coordinate with local government units, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to secure necessary permits and approvals.

 

  • Stakeholder Management and Project Support:
    • Supported by the land acquisition team where necessary, or directly where appropriate, own the relationship with landowners for land access that is required for surveying activities, securing permission for planned activities.
    • Collaborate with GIS specialists, engineers, environmental specialists, and other professionals to integrate geospatial data into project planning and design.
    • Provide technical support during the development and construction phase, including site layout, monitoring, and verification of completed works.

 

  • Project Services:
    • Assisting the Project Development Managers on the entire project cycle, from prospecting potential project sites to project completion.
    • Assist in the process of land acquisition and negotiations with landowners
    • Participating in the permitting and regulatory approvals process.
    • Maintaining a positive attitude that works well in an environment conductive to positive morale, quality, creativity, and a team-oriented workplace.
    • Participating in project meetings and conference calls.


What We Require:

  • A Geodetic Engineer or Specialist, licensed and registered in the Philippines 3-5 Years of experience in either Planning, Land Development, Survey, Mapping or other related experience.
  • Strong understanding of spatial analysis techniques and data visualization.
  • Familiarity with remote sensing, GPS, and surveying methodologies.
  • Experience working with stakeholders and government agencies in the processing of land transfer and acquisition.
  • Ability to use specialist software packages to support the data acquisition and visualisation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Windows.
  • Be flexible in terms of working and travel arrangements. Regular national travel will be required. (Must have a valid driving license, no criminal record or past infringements and no previous Visa rejections).
  • Must be fluent in English and have excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Be comfortable to both host and participate in meetings and to give presentations.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • High levels of persistence and tenacity to ensure projects are completed.
  • Someone who thinks creatively about how to achieve ambitious targets.
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively in a team environment as well as individually.
  • Someone with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet reporting deadlines.

 

Preference will be given to Candidates that have the following Experience:

  • Knowledge of Wind farm/solar farm designs.
  • Knowledge of the National standards.
  • Certified Drone Operator, CAAP licensed, with extensive flying experience for project purposes.
