Overview

RES is looking for an Estimator I with 2 years of experience in civil construction. This position will be based out of our Raleigh, NC office.

The mission: The primary function of the Estimator I is to prepare preliminary budgets, conceptual estimates, and detailed cost breakdowns for private and public bid opportunities.

What your day-to-day might look like?

A mix of reviewing & interpreting project documents, researching & gathering project costs, quantifying project materials, data entry & calculations, preparing bid packages, attending pre-proposal & bid opening meetings.

The main tasks to execute are the following:

  • Read and interpret construction plan sets, with an understanding of basic design concepts
  • Build and establish relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Create material takeoffs and calculate quantities
  • Incorporate future pricing trends within estimations
  • Present estimates to the Sr. Estimator or management with clear explanations of how calculations were completed
  • Prepare bid packages

Qualifications

We would like to talk to you if you have many of the following:

  • Strong understanding of mathematical concepts relative to civil construction estimating
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High School degree or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in civil construction
  • Ability to document all stages of calculations
  • Experience in utilizing estimating software such as HCSS or Bid2WIN
  • MS Office

What will make you stand out?

  • BS/BA degree in civil construction OR environmental related field
  • Experience in working with state DOTs
  • Experience in utilizing Bid2WIN software
  • Experience in utilizing Agtek, Adobe, and or Bluebeam
