Impact Manager – Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction
(Remote: North America, UK or Europe based)
GHGSat is at the forefront of using satellite technology to monitor greenhouse gas emissions directly from industrial sites. Our innovative approach enables precise tracking and verification of emissions, providing critical data to industries, governments, NGOs, and institutions committed to reducing their carbon footprint. We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Impact Manager to lead our efforts in driving significant emissions reductions through the strategic use of our data.
Position Summary:
The Impact Manager will play a critical role in leveraging GHGSat’s satellite data to drive meaningful emissions reductions. Reporting to the SVP of Strategy, this position will require navigating complex relationships with industry, government, NGOs, academia and institutional stakeholders to ensure our data is effectively used to meet and exceed climate goals. Working closely with internal teams such Corporate Development and Operations, The Impact Manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategies to engage these stakeholders, advocating for the adoption of our data-driven solutions, and facilitating collaboration across sectors to accelerate emissions reductions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Impact Processes:
- Review and strengthen processes internally at GHGSat and collaboratively with customers for tracking emissions reductions enabled by GHGSat data-driven solutions
- Benchmark best practices for remote sensing solutions enabling emissions reductions by third-parties, and adapt these for continuous improvement at GHGSat
- Lead GHGSat’s annual greenhouse gas inventory update, and recommend approaches to senior management to minimize GHGSat’s own caron footprint
- Project Management:
- Oversee the development and execution of emissions reduction projects in collaboration with industry partners and other stakeholders.
- Monitor the progress of emissions reduction initiatives, ensuring they align with the company’s impact goals.
- Establish a process to systematically collect information on mitigation action undertaken and catalogue successes
- Report on the effectiveness of implemented strategies and propose improvements where necessary.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including industrial partners, government agencies, NGOs, and academic institutions
- Act as the primary liaison between the company and external stakeholders to promote the adoption of emissions reduction strategies.
- Facilitate multi-stakeholder collaborations to advance industry-wide emission reduction initiatives.
- Data Utilization and Advocacy:
- and communicate satellite data insights to stakeholders to demonstrate the impact and necessity of emissions reductions.
- Advocate for the integration of satellite data into policy-making processes at various levels of government.
- Lead workshops, presentations, and webinars to educate stakeholders on the benefits of using satellite data for emissions monitoring.
- Communication and Reporting:
- Prepare detailed reports and case studies that highlight the impact of the company’s data on emissions reductions.
- Develop and manage communication strategies to effectively disseminate the company’s impact narrative to a broad audience.
- Collaborate with the marketing and communications teams to amplify success stories and case studies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Public Policy, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in impact management, sustainability, environmental policy, or a related field.
- Proven track record of successfully managing multi-stakeholder projects and driving measurable impact.
- Strong understanding of greenhouse gas emissions, climate change policy, and sustainability practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in using or interpreting satellite data or other remote sensing technologies is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and project management skills.
- Passion for sustainability and a commitment to making a positive impact on the environment.
