Job Description

With Acciona securing two of Australia’s largest transmission line projects, CWO and Humelink, we are expanding our project delivery capabilities and establishing a specialised Secondary Systems self-perform team to support key tenders and ongoing projects.

As part of this growth, we are actively seeking Senior and Principal Electrical Engineers with expertise in Secondary Design to contribute to the electrical design process for large-scale transmission projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the planning, conceptual, and detailed design phases for large-scale transmission line projects.
  • Performing technical calculations, developing technical documents, and creating procurement specifications.
  • Managing digital design information, including drawing registers, transmittals, and change request documentation.
  • Preparing and presenting cost estimates for design and construction (D&C) phases, ensuring technical accuracy and budget adherence.

Project Delivery:

  • Oversee the development and compilation of project documents, coordinating with clients, partners, and internal teams.
  • Ensure the selection, construction, and installation of electrical equipment meet design and project specifications.
  • Manage the scoping, definition, specification, and tendering processes during the procurement phase.
  • Coordinate and file project documentation, including tender and contract documents, as well as safety, quality, and environmental records.
  • Contribute to the development of management plans, functional descriptions, commissioning, inspection, testing procedures (ITPs), performance tests, and operations & maintenance (O&M) documentation.
  • Resolve non-critical project issues by analyzing relevant information and making informed recommendations.
  • Communicate technical issues with the project team, third parties, and head office counterparts in areas including civil and electrical engineering.
  • Prepare requests for quotations for electrical vendor equipment.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of years' experience in a comparable technical field, preferably in transmission lines or similar projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, including technical report writing.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently.
  • Experience working within a team environment and managing autonomous tasks.
  • Valid driver's license recognized in Australia.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel interstate and internationally.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus but not required.
  • Extensive experience in the electrical design of transmission lines or similar infrastructure projects.
  • Previous experience working within a design team or in a similar engineering role.
  • Competence in supervising engineering design development, including preparing process calculations, specifications, and drawings in a digital engineering environment (e.g., BIM).
