Main goal of the Workshops Committee: Provide Queen’s engineering students with opportunities to gain and fine-tune professional skills before graduation.

Description:
As a member of the Workshops Committee, you will be organizing workshops to provide students with opportunities to gain and fine-tune their skills in different areas of professional development. The workshops organized by the committee have varied from year to year and cover a wide variety of topics. Past workshops have ranged from prepping for interviews to developing specific technical skills such as an introduction to GitHub workshop. There is a lot of freedom to be creative and come up with your own ideas for professional development workshops. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with many groups both on campus and in industry to develop and deliver the workshops for students. Applicants should be motivated, have strong organizational skills, and work well in a team setting.

Note: No experience is required for this position. You will have the opportunity to expand your professional development knowledge in this role.

Key responsibilities of the committee include:

  • 🧠 Brainstorming new workshop content
  • 💻 Executing and planning workshops
  • 👥 Collaborating with groups on campus or in industry to develop and deliver workshop content

Time commitment:

  • 🗓️ 1 weekly meeting with the Workshops Committee
  • 📌 Additional time spent organizing the workshops with your teammates
