ERM is looking for a motivated, hands-on Principal Consultant to join our Contaminated Site Management team. The ideal candidate brings significant consultant and project management experience to provide technical leadership, strategic direction, and cutting-edge technical support to grow ERM’s Contaminated Site Management service area. The candidate will work on a variety of site investigation, risk assessment, and remediation programs under CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, and regional state programs in Massachusetts as well as other US locations. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise to projects, implementing innovative and sustainable site investigation and remediation technologies and be a Licensed Site Professional (LSP). 

As a Principal Consultant, you will contribute your leadership, client relationships, and technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM’s business and client base in New England, while networking with ERM's global Contaminated Site Management technical team and technology experts to share best practices across the industry. **Position can be based in Boston or Hartford. Active LSP required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and develop complex site investigation and remediation projects with multi-person project teams for a variety of clients with particular focus on sites in Massachusetts and New England. Oversee multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with other ERM global practitioners to execute site investigation and remediation projects, including participating on teams comprised of SIRA and CSM professionals from multiple offices around the global organization.
  • Develop and implement strategic business/action plan, provide leadership, and deliver financial results to grow opportunities across ERM’s SIRA and CSM service lines [e.g., Brownfields redevelopment, site investigation and remediation, risk assessment, environmental construction management, site closure and decommissioning].
  • As a senior “seller/doer,” contribute to expanding ERM’s SIRA and CSM services annually. Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective technical proposals, and take active leadership role in the development of new business with new and existing clients. Develop and expand client relationships that generate repeat business.
  • Capitalize on existing client relationships to expand ERM’s profile and market share in the regional LPMR market (through a combination of excellence in technical delivery and business development).
  • Develop a working understanding of ERM’s other consulting service areas and actively support cross-selling other services to existing clients.
  • Provide leadership in managing staff performance, recruiting and retention, and mentoring personnel for overall success of technical team.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with other ERM employees.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's in engineering, geology, environmental science, or related discipline. Masters preferred.
  • Massachusetts Licensed Site Professional required.
  • Registered Professional Engineer, Connecticut Licensed Environmental Professional, Maine Professional Geologist preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years related experience; 10+ years of consulting experience conducting site investigation and remediation with recognized technical expertise preferred.
  • Consistent “seller/doer” track record, including successfully writing proposals and winning major projects.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Advanced knowledge of the local regulatory climate in New England.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.

For the Principal Consultant, Licensed Site Professional position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $114,018 – $152,232 USD.  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above.  This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.
