Position Summary:
The purpose of this position is to operate and manage the MRO storeroom for the Hitachi Astemo operation located in Tallapoosa, GA
Job Description:
This position reports directly to the PC&L Manager. This role is responsible for the ERP, Inventory Management, and internal distribution system. The successful candidate will collaborate across functions to achieve business objectives. The primary purpose of the Materials Manager position is to ensure no downtime is encountered because of non-availability of in-process materials, manage the inventory and internal distribution system, and adhere to the Astemo procurement standards. The Materials Manager leads approx. 6 hourly employees across a 3-shift operation.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Materials Manager position includes both creation of strategic vision, and tactical management including execution of the following essential functions, examples include but are not limited to:
- Accountable for management of materials planning, inventory control of in-process materials, and all maintenance/routine/operations supplies to prevent any factory downtime.
- Ensure Best Practice Procurement/Inventory Control are in place, including; min/max replenishment program, optimizing inventory, storeroom security, and annual inventory checks and documentation.
- Utilization of SAP and related systems for Receiving, Stores Management continuous improvement, new item set ups, and revisions/ deletions of targeted material.
- Support plant financial goals.
- Works with corporate resources when updates to items in the SAP system are required. Makes sure to document all changes for stock related items.
- Represents Storeroom at Plant Coordination meetings
- Works closely with the plant`s maintenance organization
- Function as location single point accountability (SPA) for Storeroom/ Inventory audit and Sarbanes-Oxley Act objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience with inventory management and/or ERP systems
- Minimum 5+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing environment
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution
- Intermediate or Expert knowledge of SAP inventory and ERP systems
- Experience supervising personnel in a store room environment
- 5 years of experience managing inventory/materials for a major manufacturing unit(s)
