Job Title: Managing Director - Europe

Location: Berlin, Germany

Reports to: CEO

You will be responsible for setting up and leading Beam’s European operations. This role encompasses strategic planning, business development, operational management, and team building across key markets including Germany, France, Poland, Denmark, and the Netherlands. To be successful you will have a proven track record in the offshore wind sector, excellent leadership capabilities, and the ability to drive business growth in a competitive market.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish European Headquarters:
    • Identify and set up the European headquarters for Beam in Berlin, with a mix of permanently located in Berlin and hybrid staff in target countries.
    • Oversee all aspects of office setup, including regulatory compliance, infrastructure, and staffing.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive business strategy for European operations.
    • Align regional goals with Beam’s global vision and objectives.
    • Monitor market trends, industry developments, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Business Development:
    • Drive business growth by identifying and securing new projects and clients in the offshore wind sector.
    • Direct sales activities within assigned regions to maximise overall territory growth objectives
    • Develop and execute sales plans, playbooks and strategies to drive growth in new and existing accounts
    • Accurately forecast and achieve monthly and quarterly sales quotas as well as weekly/monthly activity and pipeline development goals
    • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including industry partners, government bodies, and clients.
    • Represent Beam at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities.
  • Operational Management:
    • Oversee the execution of subsea inspections, site characterization surveys, UXO projects, and future geotechnical surveys.
    • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
    • Implement and maintain robust health, safety, and environmental standards across all operations.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing European team.
    • Coach sales team to uncover customer needs, develop champions, present specific use cases, demonstrate the differentiated value of Beam and negotiate favorable pricing and terms by selling value and ROI.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work culture that promotes innovation and continuous improvement.
    • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to team members to achieve their full potential.
  • Financial Management:
    • Develop and manage the European budget, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded.
    • Implement effective cost control measures and financial reporting systems.

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in the offshore wind sector, with a focus on subsea inspections, site surveys, and/or geotechnical surveys.
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role, preferably as a Managing Director or similar.
  • Demonstrated success in business development and strategic planning.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory and operational landscape in the European offshore wind industry.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively across Europe.
