We have an exciting opportunity for a Health, Safety, and Environment Student. This role is based in our Langley, B.C. Plant.

The Student will be responsible for collaborating with the Safety Specialist to optimize our processes and workflows and will play a key role in identifying areas for improvement, implementing solutions, and supplying the overall efficiency of our operations.

Key responsibilities:

  • Update Safety data Sheet inventory.

  • Participate in job observation and risk assessment.

  • Update Work Instructions where applicable ensuring the safety component in them is accurate.

  • Update Contractor Management files.

  • Liaise with different teams at the location to update the status of various safety projects (e.g., “Corrective Actions” items and “Preventive & Corrective Actions Report” (PCAR).

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job requirements:

  • Working towards a Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or other safety-related education.

  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead multiple tasks.

  • Well-developed organization and prioritization skills.

  • Strong analytical, decision-making & problem-solving skills.

  • Understanding and following the workplace health and safety rules and regulations.

Working conditions

  • Working indoors in an office environment (60%) with exposure to a plant and yard environment (40%).

  • Frequent communication with plant HSE Specialists, with occasional communication with operational department managers and plant personnel.

  • The plant environment consists of loud noises, odors, dust, and exposure to moving equipment.

  • PPE (hi-vis vest, safety boots, hearing protection, safety glasses).
