Title: Test Engineer
Hours: Full-time
Location: Milwaukee, WI. The role is on-site with the opportunity for occasional remote work.
Reports to: Director of Systems Engineering
Compensation: Salary range is $90,000 to $110,000 depending on candidate experience.

This Role:
BioLite is looking for a passionate Electrical or Mechanical Test Engineer well-experienced in areas of design, development and testing. You will work with a motivated product development team with an excitement for energy systems, motivated by a powerful social mission. You will lead the execution of new product opportunities focusing on emerging energy markets from benchtop concept, through development, into field demonstrations. You'll work with our Product Development team, External Engineering Contractors and consultants, our Manufacturing team, and Supply-Chain partners to bring new energy products to the world.
You Will:
- Lead the development of a new product set specifically focused on bringing energy to developing countries such as South Africa.
- Coordinate with the Brooklyn Engineering Team to perform design & development activities including prototyping, testing, and reporting.
- Develop work plans, test plans, assign and assume responsibilities, train and mentor cross-functional teams including technicians, interns, fellow engineers.
- Communicate with all levels of leadership regarding project status: risks, milestones, and contingencies, from peer-to-peer to the CEO.
- Implement existing and upcoming electrification technologies that relate to Energy Storage (Lithium-Ion Battery Systems), Conversion (DC-DC, DC-AC, AC-DC), and In-Home Distribution (AC-utility, DC-solar, protections, regulations).
- Develop engineering workspaces from the ground-up: construct lab layouts, specify and purchase the necessary test equipment, research and configure data acquisition equipment for field data collection.
- Travel: (a) Domestic and (b) International-Asia is required for vendor and manufacturer- supplier builds, approximately twice. (c) International to emerging markets (South Africa) will be required at least once, accompanied by local and domestic partners.
You Have:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years' technical experience in the engineering field
- Experience in Energy Storage: including large-format lithium ion battery packs (>200Wh), their applications, safe handling and deployment practices
- Experience in Energy Conversion & Distribution: switching AC and DC power electronics and their topologies (controllers, inverters, regulators, etc…), safety elements
- Experience in Testing: how to independently and cross-functionally design and Implement meaningful exercises that mitigate risk
- Experience working within a rapid-release (sprint) software development cycle for embedded microcontroller systems
