Staff Accountant

Full-time / Permanent / Onsite based at our offices in South San Francisco

Zero Emission Industries is looking for a knowledgeable and energetic staff accountant to join our dynamic team. You’ll report directly to our Finance Manager while performing day to day financial operations including AP/AR, payroll, inventory tracking, and more!

What you’ll do:

• Take ownership of full General Ledger and related duties including journal entries, workpapers and schedules required for financial audit
• Assist in variance analysis review of financial statement transactions as part of period end close process
• Manage day to day cash sources and uses in a clear and timely manner
• Assist with the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Prepare journal entries and other relevant models and analysis associated with the company’s variable compensation models
• Prepare monthly progress invoices to government agencies required for collecting grant funds
• Provide financial status information by preparing special reports; completing special projects when requested
• Review department and project GL account coding of transactions for appropriateness
• Perform bank account reconciliations
• Ensure company expenses are properly documented and classified and help enforce compliance company policies
• Interact with customers and vendors as needed

What you know:

• The fundamentals of accounting, and how to apply those within a small business environment
• How to use QuickBooks or similar lightweight ERP system effectively
• How to communicate effectively in a dynamic and high-growth business environment
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, etc)
• In depth knowledge of US GAAP and its applications 
• Hands on experience with month end close process
• Substantial experience with AP/AR
