We are looking for you to join our tech team in Berlin. 1KOMMA5° is creating Germany's largest one-stop-shop for the sale, installation, and servicing of solar panels, heat pumps, electricity solutions, and charging infrastructure. And the best part? They are all interconnected!  One of our key tech products, our energy manager "Heartbeat," is central to our mission. It enhances the user experience through our app and ensures the cheapest and cleanest energy for our customers. Additionally, it serves as a core component of our vision to build a virtual power plant.

Your mission

As a Working Student in Data Science & Optimization, you'll play a crucial role in our cross-functional team, focusing on data-driven solutions in the energy sector. You'll work with time series data, contribute to optimization projects, and gain deep insights into the energy industry. Your work will directly impact our products and services, helping to accelerate the energy transition.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Analyze time series data related to energy consumption, production, and pricing

• Develop and implement data analysis models to derive actionable insights

• Evaluate ML models for their suitability for forecasting energy demand and supply

• Create dashboards in Looker to monitor the performance of the Energy Management

• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to solve complex problems in the energy sector

Your profile

• You are currently enrolled in a university program in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field

• You are able to commit 15-20 hours per week

• You have strong skills in Python and SQL

• You have experience with data analysis libraries (e.g., pandas, numpy, scikit-learn)

• You enjoy problem-solving, analyzing data, and deriving insights

• You enjoy writing clean, maintainable, and reusable code that's easy to test

• You are familiar with time series analysis techniques and have a basic understanding of machine learning concepts

• You have a strong interest in the energy sector and sustainability

• You have a team-oriented mindset, like working in agile environments, and value close collaboration with your teammates

• You have strong communication skills in English; German is a plus

Bonus points for:

• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker)

• Exposure to creating and maintaining data pipelines for efficient data processing

• Knowledge of energy markets and renewable energy systems

• Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform
