Job Overview
SCS Global Services is launching the Global Heat Reduction Initiative ("GHR" or "Initiative"), a groundbreaking approach to climate change mitigation, climate accounting, and the voluntary carbon market, based on the latest IPCC science. The Initiative consists of the GHR Registry, GHR Footprint Verification as well as awareness, advocacy, and partnership efforts. We help businesses, governments, and NGOs to reduce their climate impact through measures that lower the planet's excess trapped heat in the short term so we can build a viable bridge to a net-zero future.

GHR is seeking a highly competent Senior Technical Director to join our team with a primary focus on the Registry. As an expert in climate science and the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM), this position will serve as the in-house technical lead for the new registry. GHR is the only registry in the VCM to issue credits backed by third-party verified reductions in fast-acting, previously unaccounted-for climate pollutants including methane, black carbon, and HFCs, as well as measures to mitigate the loss of climate-critical ecosystems and heat-reflective ice- and snowpacks.

This role will review project design descriptions, write and review project methodologies, and certify reports made by Verification and Validation Bodies (VVBs). You will also work as needed with GHR's Scientific Technical Review Panel of experts and lend expertise to GHR's broader activities in climate advocacy and communications. The successful candidate will have deep experience with mitigation project methodologies, carbon market stakeholders, and the process of carbon credit development and issuance. This role must be committed to the highest standards of compliance and transparency and have the competence and agility to navigate a startup environment in an exciting new field of climate action.
