Role Overview:

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our dynamic team and take ownership of architecting and executing large-scale projects such as SOC2 compliance, GDPR readiness, IoT device integration, and internationalization (i18n). In this role, you will mentor other engineers, contribute to building a culture of technical excellence, and deliver scalable solutions that enhance our platform’s reliability and security.

  • System Architecture: Collaborate with product and engineering teams to design scalable, secure, and efficient systems.
  • Stakeholder Management: Work closely with leadership, product management, and other departments to ensure alignment on technical solutions and priorities.
  • Best Practices: Promote and enforce engineering best practices for coding, testing, and deployment across the team.
  • Hands-On Contribution: While the role is focused on leadership, you’ll still be expected to contribute hands-on when necessary, especially for complex problems.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years at a staff or principal level, leading the architecture and execution of large-scale technical projects.
  • Strong Knowledge of Compliance & Security: Experience with SOC2, GDPR, or other security frameworks, and the ability to implement and scale solutions that meet these requirements.
  • IoT Expertise: Familiarity with IoT integrations, protocols, and security concerns.
  • Internationalization (i18n): Proven experience with internationalizing software systems and handling localization challenges.
  • Mentorship & Leadership: Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and lead by example, promoting a culture of learning and collaboration.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in backend technologies (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, or similar), cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), and modern frontend frameworks.
  • Excellent Communication: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ruby on Rails, Postgres, React, GCP: 5+ years with technologies in our stack
  • Compliance Certifications: Experience with achieving and maintaining SOC2 compliance or related certifications.
  • Open Source Contributions: Active involvement in the open-source community or a strong personal project portfolio.
  • Start-Up Experience: Previous experience working in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment.

Why Ridepanda?

  • Work on meaningful projects that contribute to a more sustainable world.
  • Join a passionate and innovative team that values collaboration, creativity, and diversity.
  • Competitive salary, stock options, and benefits package.
