Engineering Intern – Asset Excellence (Engineering Optimisation)

We have an exciting opportunity for a student to join our Internship Programme at Nadara.

Engineering Intern – Engineering Optimisation 

Location:  

You will work day-to-day in our Edinburgh office, with some UK travel involved.  

When:  

January – August 2025 

What the role entails: 

This is an exciting opportunity to see how an engineering team works in our Edinburgh office. You will sit in our Engineering Optimisation team, using bespoke wind engineering software and tools to help understand the loading seen by our turbines and improve the performance of our sites. You will get involved in our day-to-day activities such as: 

• Developing aerodynamic profiles and associated performance data from scanned wind turbine blades.  

• Assisting in building and validating aeroelastic models of different wind turbines. 

You will also be assigned individual projects such as: 

• Investigating the loading and life impact related to grid curtailment of windfarms. 

• Performing CFD analysis to replicate wind tunnel air foil performance. 

• Investigating the AEP loss due to Leading Edge Erosion of wind turbine blades. 

• Portfolio level review of wind farm restrictions (wind sector management, noise curtailment, bat curtailment, shadow flicker) to understand if there are opportunities to optimise the assets to reduce losses.
