<p style="">Pacific Fusion is seeking exceptional Experimental Scientists to join our dynamic team and create the path to commercial fusion energy. You will collaborate with engineers and scientists towards our demonstration of ignition and high-gain targets for fusion energy applications.</p><p style=""></p><p style=""><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><p style=""></p><p style="">The main responsibility of an Experimental Scientist is to design, execute, and analyze data from focused physics and integrated tests of our fusion target concepts on internal and external facilities. Strong candidates will have the following core competencies: </p><p style=""></p><ol style=""><li><p style="">Independence: This role will require executing experiments in a fast-moving, dynamic, and innovative environment.</p></li><li><p style="">Domain expertise: A successful Experimental Scientist will have ownership of a component of our company’s experimental program and be the internal expert.</p></li><li><p style="">Creativity and problem solving: Aspects of our fusion system will require innovation in target designs. Success in this role will require identifying creative experiments to test key physics and validate novel concepts..</p></li><li><p style="">Insight: The ultimate goal of our team is to demonstrate high gain fusion targets. Experimental Scientists should be able to identify which tests and measurements are the most critical to the success of the company.</p></li><li><p style="">Teamwork: These problems are too big for any one person to solve on their own. All Experimental Scientists are expected to be strong communicators and thoughtful teammates. </p></li></ol><p style=""></p><p style=""><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><p style=""></p><ol style=""><li><p style="">A Ph.D degree in a relevant field, or other relevant experience speaking to the competencies above.</p></li><li><p style="">Experience conducting fusion or high-energy density experiments, especially on pulsed-power or laser driven inertial fusion facilities.</p></li><li><p style="">Multiple skills relevant to successful experiments, e.g. state-of-the-art experimental methods, use of modern diagnostic techniques, data analysis, and physical interpretation.</p></li><li><p style="">Excellent communication skills</p></li><li><p style="">Ability to work cross functionally across a wide array of teams</p></li></ol>
