REGENT is building the seaglider; the first electric flying machine that will transport commercial passengers.  With a vehicle that never flies higher than a few meters off the water, we unlock the ability to fly twice as far as an electric aircraft, and certification by maritime authorities which will let us fly first passengers by mid-decade.

REGENT is seeking a driven and talented Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our dynamic mechanical team. You’ll play a key role in supporting the design, testing, and development of our cutting-edge seaglider. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working on mission-critical projects pushing innovation's boundaries.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Independently execute minor projects or sub-projects, demonstrating autonomy and sound engineering judgment
  • Utilize critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address complex materials, systems, and engineering fundamentals challenges
  • Develop and optimize CAD models using NX
  • Produce high-quality mechanical design drawings to support project objectives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate components and systems
  • Support prototype builds, from assembly through testing, and contribute to troubleshooting efforts
  • Document and communicate findings through detailed technical reports and presentations
  • Depending on your strengths and interests, you may focus on:
  • Electromechanical Systems: Supporting the integration and optimization of electromechanical components
  • Test Fixture/Planning: Designing and developing test fixtures and planning and executing testing procedures
  • Mechanical Design/Drafting: Creating detailed CAD models and mechanical design drawings

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Strong problem-solving skills, critical thinking ability, and solid understanding of engineering first principles
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks; experience with NX is a plus
  • Hands-on experience working on complex hardware products, ideally in aerospace, automotive, or similar industries
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create engineering drawings
  • Experience through previous internships, research, or involvement with student design teams
  • Familiarity with building prototypes, setting up experiments, and running tests
  • Strong technical writing skills for documenting test results and design decisions
  • Experience with motion or dynamic applications is highly desirable
