Internship
In-person · North Kingstown, RI, US... more
REGENT is building the seaglider; the first electric flying machine that will transport commercial passengers.  With a vehicle that never flies higher than a few meters off the water, we unlock the ability to fly twice as far as an electric aircraft, and certification by maritime authorities which will let us fly first passengers by mid-decade.

We are actively hiring passionate interns who can help us get our vehicle to market as quickly and safely as possible. We are backed by the world’s best investors: the same investors who are behind SpaceX, Palantir, Boom Supersonic, and more. We have over $9B in provisional orders from some of the industry’s largest operators and are hitting the ground running.

As a Perception Engineering Intern, you will assist in the design and implementation of perception systems for our innovative seagliders. You will work on developing algorithms that enable our vehicles to perceive their external environment, internal state, and operator intent across multiple operational modes: hull-borne, hydrofoil-borne, and wing-borne. This internship offers hands-on experience in prototyping perception solutions, evaluating sensors, and integrating perception capabilities into our vehicles. You'll gain exposure to high-fidelity simulations and may have the opportunity to participate in live-sea trials to verify and validate the software.

Working closely with various engineering teams, including flight controls, systems, hydrodynamics, and flight software, you'll learn about the interdisciplinary nature of aerospace engineering. As the project progresses, you may have the opportunity to be involved in subscale and full-scale prototype development and testing. You will both learn and practice concepts, processes and techniques for engineering software as part of a complex system of systems.

This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge perception engineering in a maritime environment. You'll work alongside experienced engineers, contributing to innovative solutions while developing your skills in a dynamic startup setting.
