Job Description

Are you a seasoned professional with a keen ability to spot potential risks before they escalate and craft innovative solutions to mitigate them? In this role, you'll be at the heart of safeguarding the projects future, identifying risks across financial, operational, and strategic areas, and devising comprehensive strategies to minimize them.

The Project
The Alkimos SeaWater Alliance project will deliver WA's next major water source - A new seawater desalination plant at Alkimos.

At completion of stage 1 the plant will supply up to 50 billion litres of clean, safe drinking water to millions of Western Australians each year.

The project includes the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the plant with first production in 2028. Works include marine works and tunnels, seawater intake system, a seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant, groundwater system, drinking water storage and pump system, supported by civil, electrical and bulk earthworks.

Key accountabilities for the position

  • Proactive leadership, management and guidance on identifying, evaluating and defining emerging project risks (including threats and opportunities) on the Alliance.
  • Ownership and manage the Risk Management Plan (RMP) for the Alliance.
  • Manage and maintain the Risk Management System and risk management software on the Alliance.
  • Manage and maintain the project risk register for the Alliance.
  • Lead and facilitate Risk and Opportunity (R&O) workshops for the ongoing life of the Alliance.
  • Identify and manage control and mitigation plans for threats and opportunities.
  • Identify and manage risk actions and close out risk actions on the Alliance.
  • Report on overall risk and opportunity position on the project on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in undertaking cost and schedule risk analysis on quarterly basis.
  • Coordinating and liaising with key project stakeholders including senior leadership, design engineers, engineering and construction teams, project controls team, planning team and commercial team.
  • Presenting risk management outcomes to stakeholders including the client, senior leadership, construction and commercial teams.
  • Provide risk management input into continuous improvement activities, lessons learned and alliance initiatives.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Tertiary qualified in Risk Management, Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Commerce / Business, Law
  • You will have substantial experience in senior Risk Management roles & ideally have experience with the construction or engineering sector. Also being CPRM certified with Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA) or equivalent would be highly regarded.
  • Experience in setting up and implementation of risk management systems and plans
  • Experienced in managing complex budgets and financial reporting
