As leaders in the renewables space, we are focused on building a modern, secure, and resilient gid.   Join us in making an impact on the communities we serve and the environment in which we live. Together we can transform the future of energy.

Responsibilities

Join Us in Supporting the Grid of the Future

EPE is expanding its services in the smart grid sector, offering comprehensive advisory support to utilities on the challenges and opportunities of integrating Distributed Energy Resources (DERs). As DERs become more prevalent, utilities face increased complexity and must transition from a traditional, unidirectional electricity supply model to a sophisticated, decentralized system that is data-rich and prosumer-focused. This evolution is fueled by advancements in technology, including automation and control platforms like ADMS and DERMS, smart meters, smart inverters, and AI-driven data analytics.

This role at EPE encompasses a wide range of activities, from advising utilities on DER management and control strategies, assessing DSO readiness, facilitating DER market integration and more. This position goes beyond engineering; it involves leading transformative advancements and shaping the future of the utility landscape.

How you can make an impact:

  • Design and implement solutions for integrating Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) into the smart grid, ensuring seamless integration with existing grid infrastructure.
  • Conduct detailed analyses and modeling of distribution systems using tools like CYME and Synergi to support grid modernization initiatives.
  • Support the planning, management, and execution of utility smart grid projects such as Distribution Automation, ADMS, OMS, DMS, SCADA, AMI and Microgrids.
  • Develop and optimize control strategies for DER management systems (DERMS) to enhance grid reliability, efficiency, and resilience.
  • Lead the development and implementation of distribution planning best practices related to DERs and storage, including IEEE 1547, with consideration and support for distribution automation tools and Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS).
  • Providing integration services pertaining to advanced technologies like Advanced distribution Management System (ADMS) and Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and improve the readiness of Distribution System Operators (DSOs) for DER integration.
  • Support business development activities including evaluating client opportunities, responding to requests for proposals, identifying strategic areas of focus, and preparing and conducting presentations.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in smart grid technologies and industry best practices to ensure the adoption of innovative solutions.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise reports and presentations to stakeholders, articulating the technical and economic benefits of smart grid and DER integration projects.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to help clients adopt and utilize new technologies effectively.
