About the Role
Kevala is looking for a self-motivated Front-End Software Engineer to lead the development of the Kevala UX Framework. Kevala’s platform enables utilities, regulators, renewables developers and mobility companies to solve their biggest problems related to electrification and decarbonization. To support this, we’re implementing a comprehensive UX framework to drive standardization and scale across our platform.
The successful candidate will drive the technical implementation of this framework, collaborating with teams across the company to ensure that UX flows are usable, scalable, and aligned to Kevala’s platform vision serving. The Staff Engineer will collaborate across the company to translate project requirements into a generalized, intuitive product for interfacing with all aspects of the electric grid: solar power, electric vehicles, energy efficiency, and more
What you will be doing
Technical lead for the implementation of the Kevala UX framework, scaling and generalizing user flows throughout the platform
Partnering with Design, Product Management, and Engineering leadership to identify what’s next in our platform’s evolution
Driving technical strategy and implementation of Kevala’s design system, collaborating with Design to implement Svelte components based upon Sketch/Zeplin designs.
Diving into difficult problems facing the US electric grid, especially relating to temporal and geospatial data visualization
Collaborating with other engineers on designing and implementing product features whilst providing consistent feedback through pull requests
Expanding your areas of technical expertise as we experiment with new products
Architecting modular code to speed up the delivery of new features and product verticals
What you need to succeed
10+ years of experience working or building with modern web application frameworks
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
Versatility and enthusiasm for taking on novel problems and learning new technologies
Excellent communication skills and willingness to collaborate with individuals across the
organization
What will make you stand out
Experience as technical lead of Front End Architecture, leading the implementation of a design system within a software product organization.
Experience working for startups, particularly for SaaS companies
Expertise in building modern web based UX using Svelte
Experience in the utility, clean energy, regulatory, or automotive industry
Familiarity with geospatial and temporal datasets or data types
Location
Kevala is headquartered in San Francisco, but we embrace the virtual office and are continuing to grow our team across the United States.
Compensation
The total compensation for this opportunity includes a base salary range of $150,000 - $185,000 plus equity (stock options). This is our target compensation range and is subject to multiple factors including level, experience, and location. As you go through our interview process, our recruiter will work with you to identify a competitive base salary within the proposed range and combine it with an equity package that will support your excitement in joining Kevala.
