Our mission

We’re on a mission to make the switch to sustainable transport and energy faster, easier and more affordable. We use our own technology stack, data smarts and industry knowledge to build a game-changing capability. Our intelligent energy platform helps our customers access renewable energy, understand consumer behaviour, and powers smart charging for EVs.

The worlds of energy and transport are colliding and Ohme is at the heart of this. By using technology and data integrations to connect cars, chargers, people, energy providers and more, Ohme has a powerful platform that puts the consumer at the core.

Ohme has been selling its chargers to consumers since mid-2019 and has had exponential growth since. We are now operating in multiple countries and have partnerships with the likes of Motability Operations, Octopus Energy, Volvo Benelux, VW UK, Mercedes UK, Hyundai UK and other innovative brands.

We are scaling up the business and are building out the team for rapid growth. If you’re interested in joining a fast-growing cleantech venture on a journey to speed up the global transition to clean energy, read on!

Your role

As the first Commercial Director of our GridFlex team at Ohme, you will drive and shape the positioning and monetisation of our energy solutions, helping our customers get the maximum benefit from their part in the energy transition.

We have a massive – and very fast growing – fleet of residential electric vehicle chargers. We have an incredible latent opportunity to derive value for our customers from their plugging in and charging behaviours across a range of current and future energy markets.

We are looking for a talented Director to lead and empower a team responsible for the commercial management, product design and revenue maximisation for Ohme’s services related to grid-connected flexible assets.

What we need from you:

Your key responsibilities will include planning, developing and implementing our commercial strategies in support of our GridFlex business development and building on the team’s growth.

·       You will be the point person on financial and performance target setting, opportunity cost, bidding, risk management, asset baselining and performance verification.

·       This means you will be able to identify future opportunities for us to participate in capacity, balancing, wholesale and flexibility services and help both our policy and regulation team and product teams understand the evolutions required.

·       You’ll be familiar with the probabilistic nature of decentralised devices (like EV chargers) and keen to bring these to bear in energy markets structured for bigger, deterministic assets.

·       You will understand and be able to communicate market conditions and industry trends, including other parties’ behaviour and other exogenous factors.

·       You will love analysing the performance of our fleets through analysis, in conjunction with our data scientists and business analysts.

·       Finally, you will engage regularly with industry groups, regulatory bodies and other organizations to stay informed and influence the energy landscape.

Requirements

Who you are:

You will be a genuine expert in GB energy markets, used to dealing with their complexities and vagaries.

You will be creative, with an ability to bridge between what conventional markets require and what our fleet is able to deliver.

You will be relentlessly commercial, driven by the opportunity to maximise value for our customers.

You'll live our values: Move fast, be brave, push the bar, take ownership and be transparent. Be a team player with creative opinions, focused on driving solutions. Always look forward and learn from mistakes.

To be successful in this role you will need to have an entrepreneurial and creative mindset, together with strong financial and management skills, organisational abilities and interpersonal qualities. You’ll have a sense of humour, and ideally you’ll also find EV and energy industry in-jokes electrifying (ba-dum).
