Environment Business Division (EBD) Overview:

The Environment Business Division (EBD) at Hitachi America, Ltd. focuses on innovating sustainable solutions to help North American customers achieve their environmental goals. EBD collaborates with other Hitachi business units, partners, and customers to develop solutions that deliver environmental, economic, and social benefits.
 

Summary:

The Environment Business Division (EBD) is seeking a Senior Financial & Operations Analyst to contribute to business model development, market analysis, financial modeling and reporting, proposal pricing and stage gate process.  In addition, this individual will handle contracting and sales support as well as support operational processes for the Division. This role combines a passion for sustainability, business financial expertise with operational support to incubate, validate, and scale solutions addressing today’s sustainability challenges.
 

Key Responsibilities:

The Financial & Operations Analyst focuses on providing financial analysis and Operations support for the business incubation activities within EBD. Key responsibilities include:

  • Business Model Development: Collaborate with the incubation team Leads to define sustainable business models (CapEx, as-a-Service, license, shared performance, etc).

  • Market Analysis: Conduct Total Addressable Market (TAM), Serviceable Available Market (SAM), and Serviceable Obtainable Market (SOM) analyses, as well as evaluate forecasted Compound Annual Growth Rates (CAGR).

  • Financial Modeling: Develop detailed annual and multi-year financial models, including income statements and cash flow forecasts for business incubation initiatives.

  • Proposal Pricing: Collaborate with EBD Commercial and Technical team members to create and analyze pricing structures for business proposals, including margin analysis.

  • Stage Gate Process: Support the financial evaluation of projects through the proposal stage gate process.

  • Contracting & Sales Support: Assist in contracting for pilot programs and Proof of Value (PoV) projects, including subsequent sales order processing and customer invoicing (Order-to-Cash process).

  • Financial Reporting: Support Divisional monthly and quarterly financial reporting reviews, conduct actuals vs. budget variance analysis, and assist in developing Division forecasts and annual budgets.

  • Procure-to-Pay Support: Support Vendor/Supplier sourcing and contracting.  Administrate Purchase Order processing, milestone tracking and invoice processing.

  • General Support: Support financial audits, related documentation reviews, and provide ad-hoc operational and financial assistance as needed by the team.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field, Master’s degree (MBA, Master of Accounting, Business, or Finance) is preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a financial analyst or related business support role, preferably within a corporate environment. Experience in sustainability, environmental solutions, or working with innovative business incubation teams is a plus.

  • Skills:

    • Exceptional interpersonal skills

    • Technical experience with Salesforce, Miro, Airtable is a plus

    • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.

    • Expertise in financial reporting and variance analysis.

    • Familiarity with procure-to-pay processes and sales order management.

    • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. 

    • PowerPoint proficiency of intermediate, advanced is preferred

    • Start-up mindset & agility

    • Experience with budget software, spreadsheet and database applications, data flow, report creation, and data interpretation.

    • Experience managing budgets.

    • Highly analytical mindset.

    • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical forecasting.

    • Excellent mathematical aptitude

    • Good problem-solving skills

For residents of New York City, New York, California, and Washington state only, as required under applicable pay transparency laws, the expected salary range for this position if filled remotely is $114,965 - $143,706. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area. Employees are eligible to participate in Hitachi America’s variable pay program, subject to the program’s conditions and restrictions.
