Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Site Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Brisbane, Australia.

The primary purpose is to contribute to the Construction team’s goals to influence positive attitudes and behaviours that foster a positive safety culture, ensure continuous improvement and good corporate governance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of the HSE initiatives on site in adherence with relevant legislation, standards and guidelines.

  • Collaborate with the Heath Safety & Environment (HSE) team to define HSE requirements for site in accordance with the HSE Management Plan for the project.

  • Manage the site team, contractors and subcontractors to deliver the ETCS L2 project plan.

  • Co-ordinate all site activities for all technological works, including signalling (civil and electrical) and communications infrastructure construction, to deliver the project delivery plan.

  • Optimise project resources (internal or external, including subcontractors) to achieve project deliverables and milestones, in line with the project deliverables.

  • Develop project metrics to ensure continual improvement and delivery of the program schedule.

Skills & Experience:

  • 10+ years’ experience in a similar rail and civil construction leadership role

  • Construction White Card

  • Demonstrated competency in legislation and standards relating to Construction and Health & Safety.

  • Outstanding planning and organisational skills.

  • Demonstrated experience working within a brownfield railway signalling environment.

  • Extensive Site management and team management experience

  • Knowledge of software tools and technical systems

  • Agile mindset, able to take prompt decisions in a challenging environment

  • Demonstrates perseverance, patience and commitment for long term success
