Job Summary
The Project Engineering department is seeking students who have completed 2 or 3 years of their present Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering program. The intern will provide support for five full-time project managers and one safety engineer, with the Edmonton group, and will be also available to offer help to our Montreal team.
Principal Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
• Contribute to the realization of several projects, in different phases, in particular in the stages of CAO.
• Engineering calculations (supervised).
• Creating CAD drawings, BOMs, and schematics.
• Project documentation write-ups: quote specifications, AFE’s, cost summaries, functional specifications, Gant charts, MOC forms maintenance, meeting minutes, Equipment SOP, and procedures.
• Purchasing activities-RFQ, PO’s, market/product search, specification reviews, and comparison.
• Equipment testing, test measurements, test plans, and test report write-ups.
• AFE support tasks: ROI calculations, data collection and analysis.
• Project realization assistance-assessment reports write-up, PSR write-up help.
• Safety reviews assistance-assessment reports write-up, PSR write-up help.
• Work closely with Project engineers, provide support for five full-time project managers, and one safety engineer.
• Communicate with our suppliers and production plants.
• Make measurements of dimensions and observations in the factory.
• Update Plant layout plans, make drawings of parts, and design mechanical subsystems.
• Write Specification quotes and get quotes from suppliers.
• Search for components of mechanical systems, place orders, and ensure delivery follow-ups.
• Supervise mechanical systems installations.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Having completed 2 or 3 years of a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering program.
• Practical knowledge of 3D CAD software, the knowledge of Inventor or AUTOCAD will be an asset.
• Knowledge of the layout of technical drawings.
• Strong communication skills in both verbal and written.
• Open for 4 or 8 months term starting in January 2025
