X Energy, LLC is a nuclear reactor and fuel design engineering company.  We develop Generation IV high-temp gas cooled nuclear reactors and the TRISO-X fuel to power them. The primary function of our reactors is to produce clean, carbon-free electricity or high-temperature process steam.  The key objective of our company is to develop designs that provide advantages in sustainability, economics, reliability, and safety relative to current day power generation units.

X-energy is seeking a professional to join our Human Resources team in the role of Workforce Planning Specialist. This role will collaborate with managers to assess staffing needs and develop position descriptions, which accurately capture the main responsibilities and scope of the roles. This role collaborates cross functionally with the Recruiting, Business Office, Human Resources, Training Administration, and Talent Development teams to administer a full life-cycle workforce planning framework.

Responsibilities

  • Support Workforce Planning leadership by partnering with business leaders/managers to develop staffing plans for current and near future resource needs.
  • Participate in or conduct intake meetings with managers when a position description does not exist in the repository that meets their staffing need (either to post a requisition or move a current employee into a new role).
  • Assess the staffing need to recommend a current position description which aligns or, in the event a current position description does not exist, create a new position description to document job, organizational, and occupational information including duties, responsibilities, and skills required by the job. Maintain awareness of position assignments to mitigate qualification issues when new requisitions are opened.
  • Copy, edit and audit position descriptions created by members of the Workforce Planning team to ensure alignment to standards.  
  • Audit job profiles/titles and position description information in current Human Resources and Workforce Planning software systems to ensure data is accurate and up to date.
  • Maintain position leveling requirements for all position descriptions to ensure compliance with salary bands, job grades, company vs. functional titles, etc. using current approved standards.
  • Support Human Resources leadership with salary bands for each role using the approved salary band framework.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.  
  • Maintain knowledge related to current best practices across the industry and apply them in their work.
  • Lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities, listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, without close supervision and some latitude for independent judgment.  
  • Conduct intake meetings with managers when a position description does not exist in the repository that meets their staffing need (either to post a requisition or move a current employee into a new role).  
  • In collaboration with Workforce Planning leadership, facilitate regular meetings with business leaders/managers to develop staffing plans for current and near future resource needs and review against the staffing plans to adjust as necessary based on changes to staffing needs (i.e. resignations, hires, promotions, etc.).
  • Communicate staffing plans with key stakeholders across the Business Office, Recruiting, and Human Resources.
  • Create presentations for department leadership which may be shared with key stakeholders. 
  • Provide feedback and guidance to more junior team members with the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document.
  • Shares knowledge related to industry best practices and standards with others across the team.  
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Minimum Educations/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college or university.
    • Four years of direct work experience in workforce planning or human resources can substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Typically, ten years of general work experience is required.
    • At least five of these years must be relevant experience to include human resources, workforce planning, recruiting, and/or training.
  • Intermediate level skills using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using Human Resources software applications (e.g. Workday, Paycor, BambooHR).
Compensation

As required by Maryland and other applicable state law, X Energy, LLC (X-energy) lists the expected compensation range for a publicly advertised job opportunity based upon the job requirements (e.g. education/training, experience, skill sets, etc.).  Individual candidates who meet the job requirements for the posted position will be offered a salary within this range based on their respective levels of education/training, experience, and other qualifications unique to them.  Salary ranges may vary based on the specific office location and region referenced in the posting to take into consideration differences in cost of living and may not be reflective of all regions.  Please note that compensation ranges listed for US job postings reflect base salary only and do not include benefits or other incentives.  A reasonable estimate for this position at the level of experience required is:  $58,500 to $74,750.
