Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Intern – HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) for Summer, 2025. The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.

​Mission:

  • Maintain effective mechanisms to ensure that the activities undertaken by the company are compliant to Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental law.
  • Contribute to the HSE team to ensure continuous improvement and good corporate governance.

A​​​​​​ccountabilities:

  • Implement procedures for the identification, verification, access and compliance to HSE legal and other requirements;
  • Maintain and update on regular base a register of applicable HSE Legal requirements and other HSE requirements;
  • Evaluate and implement, in collaboration with HSE Organization, the HSE requirements for working on site
  • Contribute to the proper documentation of HSE requirements
  • Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance with corporate and legislative requirements, standards, and regulations.
  • Maintain and continually improve the HSE Management System and Local Procedures

Required skills/experience:

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and ability to communicate complex technical information
  • Strong relevant technical skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Regulations

Education:

  • Current student in Occupational Health and Safety or STEM related field at a 4-year university with a graduation date between December, 2025 and December, 2026

Languages:

  • English Proficiency
