<h2><strong>ABOUT THE POSITION</strong></h2><p>The Clark County Environment and Sustainability Department is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Air Quality Specialist I/II position. This position performs a variety of professional and technical tasks in air quality management and pollution control for Clark County. &nbsp;This position works primarily in an office environment while also conducting site visits on a frequent basis. The position processes applications, reviews a variety of regulations, and prepares air quality permits with supporting documentation. The position requires the ability to research technical information and conduct technical analyses relating to potential emissions, pollution control technologies, and suitable compliance demonstration measures. &nbsp;Activities also involve assessing industrial processes, deciphering data, and determining whether additional information must be submitted to the department. The position collaborates closely with internal staff and representatives of the regulated community.<br><br><strong>Permitting Section (Permit Writer):</strong><br>This position works primarily in an office environment while also conducting site visits on a frequent basis. The position processes applications, reviews a variety of regulations, and prepares air quality permits with supporting documentation. The position requires the ability to research technical information and conduct technical analyses relating to potential emissions, pollution control technologies, and suitable compliance demonstration measures. The position collaborates closely with internal staff and representatives of the regulated community.<br>&nbsp;<br><strong>Compliance and Enforcement Section:</strong><br>This position works in the stationary source compliance group or in the dust compliance group in the compliance and enforcement section within the Division of Air Quality. The position frequently works in a field environment and conducts on-site air quality compliance inspections of minor stationary sources, construction sites, vacant lands, and unpaved parking lots/storage yards; performs compliance surveillance of fugitive dust emission sources during wind advisories; responds to citizen complaints; observes tests of air pollution control equipment; and prepares and reviews technical documents including inspection reports and Notices of Violations. The position also performs research and analysis, participates in studies and projects, and provides information to the industry and public regarding pollution control compliance methods and devices.<br><br><strong>Planning Section:</strong><br>This position works primarily in an office environment with occasional meetings beyond normal business hours and light travel for conferences/meetings/training. Provides technical support in regional air quality planning, including assisting in the development of new air quality regulations and strategies to reduce air pollutants. Stays informed about regulatory changes and emerging technologies and conducts assessments of air quality issues to inform planning and policy decisions. Presents findings and collaborates with stakeholder and external partners on air quality initiatives. &nbsp;</p>
