The Clark County Department of Environment and Sustainability is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Senior Air Quality Specialist position in their Permitting section. The successful candidate will write air quality permits and support documentation for major stationary sources throughout Clark County. They will be responsible for processing applications, including evaluating potential emissions, assessing applicable regulations, establishing operational and control requirements, and conducting site visits. Also, the candidate will perform senior level tasks such as review the work of others, provide guidance to less experienced staff, and contribute to various program development projects.
Permitting Section:
This position is in the Permitting section and will be writing air quality permits and support documentation for major stationary sources throughout Clark County. This position is responsible for processing applications, including evaluating potential emissions, assessing applicable regulations, establishing operational and control requirements and conducting site visits. Also, the successful candidate will perform senior level tasks such as review the work of others, provide guidance to less experienced staff and contribute to various program development projects.
Compliance and Enforcement Section:
This position works in the stationary source compliance group in the compliance and enforcement section within the Division of Air Quality. The position works primarily in an office environment while also conducting site inspections and/or compliance evaluations on a frequent basis. The position prepares and reviews technical documents including full/partial compliance evaluation reports, notices of violations, administrative orders, settlement agreements, and on-site inspection and/or investigation reports. The position also conducts on-site air quality compliance inspections of stationary sources with issued air quality permits, registered/delegated stationary sources, construction sites, and vacant lands, and reviews and processes various submitted reports from sources or permittees. In addition, the position performs advanced level research and analysis, provides lead direction and training to Air Quality Specialists, assist in the planning and development of departmental and/or divisional internal policies and procedures, participates in complex studies and projects, collaborates closely with internal staff, and provides information regarding pollution control compliance methods and devices.
Planning Section:
This position works primarily in an office environment with occasional meetings beyond normal business hours and light travel for conferences/meetings/training. Provides technical support in regional air quality planning, including assisting in the development of strategies to reduce air pollutants. Also interprets local, state, and federal regulations and policies. Conducts literature reviews and stays updated on emerging trends and technologies in air quality management. Uses monitoring technologies, data analysis software, modeling programs and other analytical tools to interpret and evaluate data and trends. Primarily supports efforts to determine the origins of air pollutants and prepares exceptional events demonstrations showing that violations of air quality standards were influenced by unusual or naturally occurring incidents that are not reasonably controllable.
