Role Overview:

As the Event Sustainability Manager, you will oversee event-focused client accounts. You will leverage your subject matter expertise to design and implement tailored sustainability strategies for music festivals, environmental conferences, and major event venues, working in collaboration with client event teams (production, AV, food & beverage, venue, etc.) to drive best-in-class sustainability programs.

TSI sustainability analysts will support your projects – and you will be responsible for assigning responsibilities, providing guidance to team members, and ensuring high-quality, client-ready work product.

Verbal and written communication skills are central to this role. The selected candidate will enjoy and excel at writing in a variety of formats, whether it be drafting a sustainability strategy for a stadium or arena, creating social media posts to engage event attendees, or developing a post-event sustainability report.

The role will include the following activities:

  • Utilizing your consulting, strategy, and client relationship skills to work towards our mission of protecting and sustaining the planet for generations to come.

  • Before events, conducting stakeholder engagement with client event teams (production, AV, food & beverage, venue, etc.) to develop sustainability strategies (including waste diversion systems).

  • Before events, organizing event logistics and developing staffing plans.

  • During events, leading implementation of onsite sustainability strategies (including Green Team management to ensure proper execution of waste diversion systems).

  • After events, synthesizing event sustainability data into post-event reports (including GHG footprints and waste diversion results).

  • Before, during, and after events, managing applicable event sustainability certifications (including ISO 20121 and Council for Responsible Sport).

  • Ensuring that client programs are delivered on time and on budget. We are looking for team players who roll up their sleeves to drive progress, not people who just want to direct.

  • Clearly communicating complex sustainability messages to a broad range of internal/external audiences in a simple, compelling, and technically accurate manner.

  • Drafting, editing, and formatting written materials, documents, and correspondence.

  • Providing strategic counsel to help clients advance in their sustainability journeys.

The role will include the following client relationship management responsibilities:

  • Growing the client accounts that you are responsible for and ensuring their progress and overall satisfaction.

  • Learning about the client organization and its ecosystem of stakeholders to optimize the strategy implementation potential.

  • Building and coordinating internal and external stakeholder networks.

  • Managing multiple client accounts simultaneously.

  • Facilitating online or in-person client meetings.

  • Delivering client-ready materials and presentations to demonstrate project planning efforts.

  • Managing client communications, taking meeting notes, and assigning and executing action items.

  • Sharing and contributing to the development of innovative offerings and a new generation of sustainability strategy solutions based on experience and client needs.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in event production, project management, and/or environmental consulting.

  • Ability to manage projects from start to finish, including delegating elements to other team members and overseeing schedule of client deliverables.

  • Track record of delivering high-quality work products and solutions that meet client goals.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Eligibility for employment in the U.S.

This is a full-time, exempt position, reporting directly to the Vice President and the President. The position is based in the Santa Monica office with a hybrid approach of T/W/Th in the office and M/F remote. Due to the events-focused nature of the role, occasional weekend or evening work is expected. Domestic or international travel may also be required.

Compensation Package:

  • The annual salary range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill set, professional experience and training, licensure and certifications, and depth of subject matter expertise.

  • TSI profit sharing plan - end-of-year bonus based on the company’s annual performance (and in relationship to salary and tenure).
