We are on the lookout for an influential Senior Program Manager to lead the implementation of our client’s operations in Sudan, acting as the primary liaison with the government, donor partners, and local business sector. You need to have gravitas and are someone who has overseen programmes with eagle eye precision to ensure the success of the programme and its learnings. You understand the full programme life-cycle and know how to get the cogs into motion!

As an ideal candidate you possess a strong private equity background, with a minimum of 5+ years of experience in supporting SMEs (in the private sector). Your familiarity with the Sudanese market and its key stakeholders (public and private) enables you to effectively identify and onboard support businesses. You excel in addressing challenges, designing effective advisory frameworks, and managing a competitive challenge fund for SME engagement within the agri and energy space.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assemble and lead a team of portfolio officers, ESG compliance personnel, and support staff in collaboration with operational teams based in East Africa
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies with local partners to ensure that the SME sector, government stakeholders, and donors are informed about the programme's life cycle
  • Build a strong relationships with donors to facilitate collaboration with other SME development initiatives in the region
  • Identify and engage with technical partners, including financial institutions and business service providers, to design and deliver essential support services for the programme
  • Navigate the complex Sudanese political environment to ensure the programme's uninterrupted progression without external disruptions
  • Oversee the preparation process for applicants presenting to the Investment Committee, including crafting persuasive investment proposals and assisting project sponsors throughout the selection journey
  • Ensure a transparent and fair selection process for grantees, actively preventing the funding of individuals with political affiliations that could compromise the programme
  • Monitor compliance of grantees with funding requirements, including environmental and social governance standards, in partnership with local consultants responsible for programme oversight
