At Uplift Geosystems, we&rsquo;re on a mission to use scalable minerals processing technology to provide durable carbon storage services and sustainable metal products to organizations and individuals seeking a global climate where everybody can thrive. Many critical tools require steel, concrete, and other products that are carbon-intensive to produce conventionally. To avert the worst impacts of climate change, we need to radically change the CO2&nbsp;emissions profiles of these materials and remove remaining CO2&nbsp;emissions from the atmosphere that are infeasible or unethical to avoid.
We're solving these problems by extracting magnesium and other metals from abundant rocks and storing CO2&nbsp;in the form of magnesium carbonate or bicarbonate. Scarce metals in the rocks are separated and sold for use in batteries, steel, and other products. Process reagents are recycled using electrochemical reactors. Our solution stands out in its novel adaptation of techniques employed in metallurgical and water treatment fields, which indicates potential for rapid scaleup. Further, our success is less subject to bureaucratic unknowns, since we do not need CO2&nbsp;pipelines and wells that have complex permitting. In addition, our co-products offset costs of CO2&nbsp;storage.
