About the Job
XPENG is a leading smart technology company at the forefront of innovation, integrating advanced AI and autonomous driving technologies into its vehicles, including electric vehicles (EVs), electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, and robotics. With a strong focus on intelligent mobility, XPENG is dedicated to reshaping the future of transportation through cutting-edge R&D in AI, machine learning, and smart connectivity.
At XPENG Robotics Center, we are dedicated to the development of state-of-the-art humanoid robot technology, including robotics locomotion, manipulation, navigation, and human-robot interaction powered by large language models. We possess a world-class team of software and hardware professionals.
We are seeking a Dexterous Hand Design Engineer to lead the design and development of high-DOF (degrees of freedom) robotic hands for humanoid robots. This role focuses on the creation of intricate mechanical systems, sensor integration, and advanced motion control algorithms that enable human-like manipulation, fine motor skills, and tactile feedback. The candidate will work closely with control systems, electronics, and AI teams to ensure the dexterous hand is seamlessly integrated into the overall humanoid system.
Key Responsibilities:
Dexterous Hand Design: Create multi-DOF robotic hand structures capable of flexible grasping and fine manipulation for various tasks.
Precision Motion Control: Develop and optimize motion control algorithms to ensure the precise coordination of hand joints, improving overall operational efficiency.
Sensor and Feedback Systems: Integrate force feedback and tactile sensors to enable real-time response to object interaction and grip force adjustments.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work with teams specializing in control algorithms, embedded systems, and AI to ensure seamless system integration.
Testing and Validation: Utilize simulation and prototyping to validate and iterate hand designs, driving rapid development cycles.
Advanced Materials Application: Explore and apply lightweight and durable materials for robotic hand components to enhance performance and durability.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
Proficient in designing multi-DOF mechanical systems and handling complex motion control and feedback challenges.
Expertise in using CAD, motion simulation, and FEA tools for design optimization.
Strong understanding of mechanics, control systems, and sensor technologies.
Excellent cross-functional teamwork skills to drive multi-domain project integration.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with humanoid robotics or high-precision multi-DOF system development.
Familiarity with tactile feedback systems and complex mechanical system integration.
What We Look For:
A passion for robotic technologies, particularly in the development of advanced dexterous hands.
Strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills, with a knack for integrating complex mechanical designs with control systems and electronics.
We Offer:
Competitive salary and benefits.
A chance to work on cutting-edge humanoid robot projects, solving some of the most challenging technical problems.
A dynamic and open working environment with opportunities for innovation and growth.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. It is our policy to provide equal employment opportunities to all qualified persons without regard to race, age, color, sex, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status or marital status or any other prescribed category set forth in federal or state regulations.
