Diamond Foundry is seeking a skilled Technician to join our Surface Finishing team in Fremont, CA. As a surface Finishing technician in the Research and Development group you will be joining a small group focused on Quality, Efficiency & Cost in regard to Single Crystal Diamond surface finishing development. This position supports the Engineering effort through preparation of and operation of surface finishing equipment, and related metrology tools.

The incumbent will be expected to work on shifts.

Shift differentials are provided for Swing/Graveyard shifts. Swing shift receives a 6.5% differential.


Responsibilities

  • Preparation of samples by measuring, and mounting, prior to surface finishing.
  • Assist Engineering on various non-standard test/ inspections as required. Update system and stakeholders on backlog and progress.
  • Post Surface Finishing measurements, roughness & flatness. And, preparation of surface finishing Slurries.
  • Minor maintenance of lab and machine shop equipment and tools.
  • Set up, operate, and clean surface finishing equipment. As well as cleaning of samples.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience working in a polishing environment.
  • Knowledge of surface Measurement/Inspection techniques.
  • Experience with surface finishing hard materials a plus.

Manufacturing and Engineering Departments Physical Requirements:
-Use appropriate PPE and follow all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
-This position will often: Sit, stand for long periods, walk, grasp, reach with hands and arms, lift below and above shoulders, bend, twist at the waist,  climb, balance, stoop, squat,  kneel, crawl, talk, hear, see, use fine finger manipulation, and complete repetitive motions. 
-Some tasks may require the use of ladders or stairs
-Some tasks may require driving or the use of foot controls
-Lift/carry and push/pull up to 50 pound
