Position Summary:

 

You will provide leadership and guidance to the H&S Team globally, activities and performance for both EPC and O&M. You will establish strong working relationships with regional and site leadership team and the employees. You will report directly to the Global Sr. H&S Manager. As a key leader within the H&S organization you will direct sustainable health and safety programs through incorporation of impactful operating processes and keeping in front of leading practices in health and safety standards.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage H&S procedures and processes, including the development and implementation of emergency response plans (ERP) and action plans, coordinating.
  • Assist in the ongoing development and maintenance of a “Safety & Environmental Dashboard” which tracks the safety and environmental incidents of internal and external parties, in conjunction with the Sr. Global Q&E Manager
  • Act as the lead responsible person during incident response globally, ensuring timely and thorough investigations, controlling external communication, and implementing corrective measures.
  • Ensure compliance with regional Occupational Health and Safety Acts and legislation, actively promoting and enforcing safe working practices. Lead the development and execution of global safety training programs for employees, emphasizing on electrical best practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Engage in the continuous review and update of H&S guidelines and processes, incorporating feedback and lessons learned from field operations and industry developments.
  • Oversee incident and accident investigations, risk assessments, and the development of effective corrective measures, promoting a proactive approach to incident prevention.
  • Conduct regular audits to verify the proper implementation of policies and procedures at operating and construction sites. Lead regular in-house training sessions with managers and employees on health and safety issues and risks.
  • Support regional Health & Safety Committees
  • Stay updated on new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) legislation affecting the renewable energy industry.
  • Establish and test emergency preparedness and response procedures globally, ensuring the organizations resilience in crisis situations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of safety metrics, incidents, and compliance status to senior management and relevant authorities.
  • Lead, mentor, and provide strategic support to Regional Health and Safety personnel across different geographical locations (US, EMEA, APAC, LATAM).
  • Develop and maintain a collaborative network among regional H&S teams for knowledge sharing and best practice exchange.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of global safety standards and practices across all regions.
  • Evaluate regional safety performance and provide resources and direction needed to meet safety objectives and reduce incidents.
  • Assess the effectiveness of regional safety initiatives and compliance with both local and international regulations.
  • Make necessary adjustments to regional safety strategies to align with global safety goals and enhance safety culture.
  • Responsible for maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable regional legal and legislative requirements, accreditation and client policies and procedures.
  • Help with the implementation and registration to ISO 9001, 45001 & !4001 standards
  • Available for spontaneous travel, including weekends and overnight stays, as required by business needs. Maintain flexibility in work hours, including evenings and weekends.

 

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Safety Certification
  • Experience working in a global environment
  • A minimum of 10 years of practical experience in Health and Safety, with a strong background in industrial safety, electrical engineering, and chemical engineering, and preferably with experience in power plant construction. Comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation.
  • Competence in conducting Hazard & Risk Assessments Training.
  • Demonstrated ability in Emergency Response Planning (ERP), including the development of comprehensive emergency response plans that address potential H&S emergencies and ancillary equipment failures, alongside the provision of an Emergency Response Action Plan (ERAP) for quick incident management for EPC, O&M and the offices globally.
  • Strong knowledge of protecting the environment, pollution control regulations and waste minimization
  • Computer literate, excellent skills as a trainer regarding EH&S, leadership skills, effective writing, and communication skills.
