Overview

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), one of the world’s leading conservation organizations, seeks a Lead, Azure Data Solutions.

 

Major Function

The Lead, Azure Data Solutions plays a critical role in designing, developing, and deploying data solutions on a recently adopted Microsoft data platform.  This role will oversee a team to cultivate a data driven culture and deliver an enterprise information program to meet current and future needs of WWF. 

 

The role will oversee the management, architecture, engineering, and maintenance of scalable and efficient data solutions leveraging primarily Microsoft technologies. The role will be responsible for defining data management strategies and practices to optimize system capabilities; developing scalable data pipelines for data workflows; analyzing data relationships and schemas; and supporting analysis and reporting needs. Responsible for fostering a team-oriented, problem-solving ethos focused on delivering timely, quality solutions that address organizational priorities. 

 

Salary:  The expected compensation range for this position is $148,800 - $213,900.

 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Build complex data solutions in Azure environment.

  • Leads data strategies, policies, and procedures to cultivate a data driven culture and develop standards of operation for an enterprise data program.

  • Align and engage with internal stakeholders to define business requirements to ensure operational quality, excellence, and success.

  • Develop strong partnerships with other IT teams including Network Services, and Corporate Information Security teams to ensure the security, availability, accuracy, integrity, and reliability of our data and models.

  • Engineers effective and secure data workflows; creates and maintains pipelines for data ingestion, processing, and transformation; optimizes storage.

  • Collaborates with team members to ensure security, compliance, and permissions in data handling and archiving.

  • Manages data integrations, performs extract, transform, and load (ETL) functions from various sources into data warehouses or data lakes.

  • Builds conceptual, logical, and physical data models that streamline and support our enterprise data management program.

  • Creates and maintains relevant data management documents, including semantic models, data dictionaries, master data management, etc.

  • Provides leadership (management, mentoring, and training) for internal staff and oversees the work of external consultants.

  • Actively engage in governance committees to influence data strategy, optimize system capabilities, and ensure information integrity.  

  • Ensures data quality and accuracy to support predictive analysis, visualizations, and reporting needs.

  • Keeps abreast of technology changes and innovations in the data field.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data, Engineering, Computer Science or related field; or equivalent experience.

  • MUST HAVE 10+ years of experience with:

    • Azure, (Azure AI prefered), Fabric, Power BI, SQL. Including data solutions, Data Modeling, data management, architecture, and engineering.

    • Experience in writing efficient, reusable, testable, and scalable code using PySpark. 

  • MUST HAVE experience in supervising, mentoring and training staff.

    • Organizational, quantitative, and analytical skills.

    • Attention to detail, ability to prioritize, and work accurately under time constraints.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to work in cross functional teams, as well as operate with considerable independence and discretion.

    • Ability to be agile, responsive, and flexible in managing multiple projects and priorities.

  • Experience in developing and managing relationships with vendors.
