The Buyer procures materials, supplies, services, and MRO in a timely manner at the most efficient cost to fulfill customer commitments and achieve company KPI(s).

Essential Functions/Key Deliverables 

  • Communicate with suppliers to obtain product and service information including price, availability, and delivery.
  • Gather quotations, examine bids, review contracts, negotiates pricing & contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority, and makes recommendations for awards.
  • Makes tactical buying decisions. Execute on corporate sourcing programs and ensure compliance to all purchasing protocols.
  • Accurately enter all requisitions / purchase orders in the system on time, submit accurate orders to suppliers, and obtains written acknowledgements from suppliers.
  • Monitor vendor performance for quality and delivery.
  • Work with all necessary departments to ensure spending budgets are achieved while maintaining necessary stock to deliver on our KPIs.
  • Monitor and reduce on-hand inventories.  Analyze inventory levels. Prepares liability reports for excess and obsolete management.
  • Maintains procurement records on services and goods purchased, costs, delivery, and inventories.  Champion procurement reporting and metrics.
  • Manages suppliers for price, delivery and quality expectations and escalates when appropriate.
  • Performs other tasks reasonably commensurate with the role, as needed.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience

  • Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Procurement role, ideally in the manufacturing industry.
  • Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy and organization
  • Ability to function both independently and as part of a team; must be flexible and excited to grow with the organization
  • Experience managing multiple vendors and assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong critical-thinking skills with a solution-oriented mindset
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products – SAP experience helpful.
