In this strategic and dynamic role, your expertise will be crucial to optimizing our supply chain operations. As a senior member of our Supply Chain & Logistics team, you will spearhead the development and implementation of efficient procurement and logistics strategies for our DAC (Direct Air Capture) plants. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the direct purchasing of critical components, leading the development and optimization of digital warehouse systems in MES, and managing the successful international shipment of our DAC units. You'll also be tasked with driving software and hardware procurement initiatives, ensuring all materials are sourced strategically, cost-effectively, and to the highest quality standards.

Here's what the first 12 months in the role could look like:

Months 0-3: 
  • Conduct a comprehensive review of our current procurement processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices for the direct purchase of critical DAC plant components
  • Lead the optimization of goods receipt procedures, implementing advanced tracking and storage methodologies
  • Spearhead the enhancement of our digital warehouse integration within the MES system, ensuring a fully optimized PO-to-goods receipt process

Months 3-6: 
  • Design and implement a strategic plan for warehouse restructuring, focusing on maximizing space utilization and introducing an advanced labeling system
  • Lead the development and implementation of a state-of-the-art digital warehouse system, ensuring unparalleled traceability and transparency within the MES
  • Develop and implement streamlined processes for the international shipment of large equipment, including optimizing customs clearance and ensuring full regulatory compliance

Months 6-12: 
  • Develop and execute a strategic supplier relationship management program, negotiating optimal pricing, terms, and delivery schedules for both hardware and software
  • Implement advanced inventory management techniques and lead the continuous improvement of containerized international shipment processes
  • Develop and oversee comprehensive software and hardware procurement strategies, aligning them with the company's long-term objectives
About you
Essential Qualifications
  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, a master with a major in Supply Chain Management is a plus
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in senior procurement or supply chain roles, with a strong focus on direct procurement and logistics in complex manufacturing environments
  • Proven track record in implementing and optimizing ERP and MES systems, with extensive experience in managing advanced PO, goods receipt, and inventory tracking processes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale warehouse restructuring projects, with a focus on digitization and efficiency improvements
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to drive strategic decision-making
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in mentoring teams and driving organizational change
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Proficiency in English (German language skills are a plus)


Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Extensive experience in managing the procurement of specialized technical components in industrial or high-tech manufacturing sectors
  • Proven ability to develop and implement long-term strategic plans for supply chain optimization
  • Deep understanding of software procurement processes and licensing models
  • Expertise in international logistics, particularly in managing complex, large-scale equipment shipments

Additional Requirements:
  • Willingness to occasionally travel for international shipping and logistics operations as needed
  • Thriving in dynamic environment and ability to adapt quickly to new digital systems and processes, ensuring that all operations are running smoothly while also driving continuous improvement

Noteworthy points
This role cannot be done fully remotely. We require someone who lives within commuting distance to Essen or is open to relocate which we are happy to support.
