About Sesame Sustainability
At Sesame Sustainability we are developing simulation, optimization, and analysis software to accelerate cost-optimal decarbonization across heavy industry (responsible for over 40% of global emissions). Borne from research at the MIT Energy Initiative, our technology stack is tried, tested, and trusted by some of the largest players in energy and environment.
We are looking for curious and enthusiastic engineering students to join our team this Spring!
About the Engineering Team
Sesame Sustainability’s engineers play key roles in all aspects of in-house R&D and user-facing product development efforts. This primarily concerns the development and application of Sesame’s back-end capabilities in the modeling and optimization of industrial processes and technologies (from hydrogen electrolyzers to iron and steel manufacturing), distributed energy resources, and supply chain networks. Team members work closely with Sesame’s leadership to drive research efforts directly improving the Sesame platform as well as executing external projects and reports relevant to the business.
Sesame Sustainability is looking for well-organized, versatile technical problem solvers who can think outside the box and communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
What your responsibilities may look like:
Bottom-up process modeling of novel energy systems, technologies, and supply chains
Developing and applying system- and process-level life cycle and techno-economic analysis for major energy and industry related pathways for strategic decision-making
Deploy new models and analysis capabilities within Sesame Sustainability’s software platform
Preferred Qualifications
Enrolled in Bachelor's or Master’s degree program in engineering
Experience in programming and/or data analysis (Python, MATLAB, etc.)
Basic proficiency in data management and the ability to work with large datasets
Excellent written and oral communication skills, being able to produce with minimal supervision and prioritize work to meet deadlines
