- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Environmental Science/Studies or a related field and 10 years of experience with the following: developing sustainable master plans for communities, including energy efficiency, building design, district energy infrastructure, water recycling, and waste management; creating policies for commercial and residential building development; implementing sustainability programs, including developing plans, establishing baselines, and setting targets; performing greenhouse gas accounting, forecasting, and modeling; developing policies focused on deconstruction, building materials reuse and recycling; designing and implementing incentive programs for decarbonization, energy efficiency, and renewable energy; and planning and implementing stakeholder engagement including public, industry, employee, homeowner, and customer-facing.
- Wages $112K to $130K.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Lead the growth of Ramboll’s sustainability practice using technical analyses to inform our client's sustainability approach in areas as varied as master planning, sustainability policy development, carbon strategy, corporate sustainability initiatives, business and investment strategy, and environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy.
Duties include:
- Develop and review sustainable land use and master plans, including sustainability elements such as renewable energy, energy efficiency, and water and waste management, with a view to establishing greener areas, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and moving towards the creation of a sustainable, carbon pollution-free city.
- Critically review and interpret local, state, and federal environmental regulations and voluntary sustainability commitment frameworks and advise clients on evolving regulations and zoning and building codes that require environmental action and conservation.
- Perform greenhouse gas inventory development and verification activities.
- Assist clients in voluntary greenhouse gas and sustainability reporting activities, in alignment with standards and frameworks including CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project), Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, Global Reporting Initiative, and others.
- Analyze sustainable site plans and greenhouse gas mitigation measures and propose strategies to reduce community-scale environmental impacts of buildings and transportation, including promoting active transportation, public transit, and electric vehicles.
- Evaluate applicability and feasibility of industry-standard sustainability programs (e.g., building labeling schemes, accreditation programs, UN Sustainable Development Goals, etc.).
- Actively participate in a growing network of Ramboll sustainability practitioners that span our services across environment/health, energy, and water.
- Present project proposals to community, stakeholders, and planning authorities; and facilitate meetings with developers, officials, and the general public.
