Asbestos Analyst

• Full time, permanent position based in Girraween, NSW.
• Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm.

Reporting to the Team Leader, the Asbestos Analyst will be responsible for the identification of asbestos fibres according to the ISO 17025 accredited laboratory test methods. This may be restricted to building materials only, or additionally be extended to soils with suitable training and experience. The role will be responsible for the preparation and analysis of airborne fibre monitoring samples in accordance with the laboratory test method. The term Asbestos Analyst will be interchangeable with the position title Asbestos Identifer/Counter, and an Asbestos Analyst may be competent in both asbestos identification and asbestos fibre counting.

Key accountabilities will include but not limited to:

• Performing routine asbestos analytical, physical tests and sample preparation as required.
• Controlling own work flows.
• Ensuring samples are tested in a timely manner, completed, and integrity of results maintained.
• Ensuring correct methods are used and adhered to.
• Calibrating and maintaining equipment, ensuring maintenance logs are kept up to date.
• Ensuring correct quality control procedures are used and adhered to, including Asbestos Internal Quality Control sample analysis.
• Identifying and reporting quality issues and implement the corrective and preventative actions.
• Performing all of the analysis assigned by the section supervisor.
• Monitoring, encouraging and supporting laboratory technicians as required.
