We’re looking for our 3rd full-time hire to help us build from the ground up! Join our founding team to help unlock money for the critical climate solutions we need.

Climate change is the greatest challenge of our time. Fossil fuel companies spend huge amounts of money to confuse and distract the public, making the climate crisis seem impossibly complex and difficult to fix. Large donors and their staff are bewildered as to where to start and how best to direct their resources.

At Redwoods, we have a different vision. We know that climate change is absolutely fixable, and the levers for change are tried and true – not endlessly complicated. We can help restore balance in the atmosphere if we can support donors and their advisors to cut through the noise and fund the big solutions that work.

Who We Are: Redwoods is the brainchild of ClimateWorks Foundation, High Tide Foundation, Climate Cousins, and Climate Lead, launched in 2024 to accelerate climate philanthropy. We primarily work with philanthropic advisors. We provide:

  • A curated list of fundable opportunities vetted by leading philanthropies

  • Diligence packages with clear recommendations

  • Climate philanthropy training and access to expert guidance

  • Direct support for ongoing insight and advice

We believe together we can move with speed to help regenerate our planet!

Who you are: Are you a self-starter who loves building from scratch? Can you tackle problems without a roadmap and bring structure to fast-changing environments? Do you enjoy managing operations, optimizing workflows, and leveraging tech tools to boost team efficiency and user experience? If yes, this role could be perfect for you!

As our third full-time hire, you’ll be a key player in helping our Pilot Director and Head of Advisors build our intelligence service from the ground up. You’ll handle operations, systems, and jump into special projects as they come along. We’re looking for someone with a great attitude and genuine excitement for what we’re building!

Key Responsibilities: This role offers a chance to make a real impact in the fight against climate change while building versatile skills in operations, systems, tech and climate—all while propelling your career forward.

Team & Project Management Support: 30%

  • Work with the Director to:

    • Design and implement a robust Project Management system to streamline cross-team workflows. Develop intuitive Gantt charts, performance dashboards, and simple automations (no coding required) to ensure smooth, efficient operations and help our team stay aligned.

    • Lead team coordination efforts by organizing key meetings, including scheduling, participating, and follow-ups to keep momentum strong.

    • Establish foundational processes for our organization by creating clear, lean working methods and developing essential policies that support our growth and team effectiveness.

Systems & Data Management: 30%

  • Work with the Director to:

    • Oversee and enhance the Redwoods community platform (built with HiveBrite) by updating content, organizing resources, and continuously refining the platform to deliver an exceptional user experience.

    • Establish and optimize essential organizational systems across Airtable, G Suite, Mailchimp, Zoom Events, Slack, Squarespace, and Expensify, setting up workflows that power our team’s key operations.

    • Be the go-to tech resource for the team, troubleshooting and solving tech challenges to keep our operations running smoothly and efficiently.

Advisor Management Support: 30%

  • Work with the Head of Advisor Experience to:

    • Lead a seamless onboarding experience for new users, managing their journey in our CRM to ensure consistent and high-quality communication at every touchpoint.

    • Lead and share data-driven insights by managing feedback surveys and overseeing data collection, helping to translate feedback into actionable improvements.

    • Provide support for advisor meetings by handling scheduling, tracking follow-ups, and capturing insights in Airtable to keep our advisor network connected and informed.

Special Projects  10%

  • We’re a startup and new things come up constantly. We’ll need you to take charge of one-off projects as they arise. Stuff like evaluating a new tool to drive fast growth or organizing strategic meetings with funders at events like NY Climate Week so we can secure more runway.

Desired Competencies

  • T-Shaped Generalist: Strong in operations and coordination, with depth in either data, tech, analytics, climate, marketing, OR something else!

  • Project Management & Execution Maestro: Skilled in organizing workflows, setting priorities, and keeping projects on track to meet goals.

  • Great Communicator: Clear written and verbal communication with the team.

  • Systems Brainiac: Proficient with tools like Chat Gpt, Airtable, G Suite, Slack, Zoom, AI Notetakers or able to learn super fast to lead the charge.

  • Startup Enthusiast: Thrives in early-stage environments, embraces problem-solving, and adapts flexibly as organizational needs evolve.

Nice-to-Have

  • Data-Driven Insight: Capable of collecting and analyzing data to create actionable insights that drive team improvements.

  • Familiarity with analytics platforms like Google Analytics and ChatGPT is a plus.

Quality of Life and Compensation

Because Redwoods is in pilot mode, we offer generous compensation as contractors with big growth potential and access to some of the top climate funders in the world. If we succeed, this role and ours will transition to a full-time, salaried position and we’ll create a massive impact on climate and people’s lives.

1099: 12-month contract through ClimateWorks, our fiscal sponsor. We boost market-rate pay rate by 20% to offset being unable to offer benefits like healthcare and 401(k) yet!

Compensation: $110K–$150K, based on experience and the cost-of-living of your location.

Location: Most of our team is in the SF Bay Area, working together in person a couple of times a week at beautiful Ferry Building offices. We prefer Bay Area candidates for hybrid work but will consider U.S.-based applicants.

Culture: This is a full-time, 40+ hour/week role where we prioritize results over facetime. As a bootstrapped founding team, we roll up our sleeves—handling everything from admin and scheduling to writing and troubleshooting. We figure stuff out for ourselves, lean heavily on our dynamo networks for advice, and use AI to get us further faster.

We also embrace a flexible work style. Need to see your doctor? Your health is most important. Want to take a yoga class on a Friday afternoon? Go for it. Want to start work early so that you can leave at 4pm to pick up your kids from school? We love it. While we work hard and roll with the ups and downs of building something new, that doesn’t mean we’ll burn you out. Balance and time to enjoy life are big priorities here.

Come join us on this awesome ride and let’s build an organization to achieve our potential!
