An IT Linguist who understands the critical links that connect onsite and offsite project teams?  We’re looking for an IT Systems Lead who will spearhead our client’s digital transformation journey, building their IT infrastructure from the ground up and setting the course for a secure and efficient future!

Our client is a recognised leader in the C&I solar Industry with over 200 successful solar and battery storage projects delivered across Sub-Saharan Africa. They are looking for an IT visionary to bring all their systems under one cohesive, infrastructure that will drive operational efficiency and scalability.

The IT Systems Lead will have 7+ years of experience and a strong foundation in IT Infrastructure, Cloud Environments, cybersecurity, and systems management to optimise IT capabilities.  You must have a proven ability to align IT initiatives with the company’s strategic goals and long-term vision. Bonus points if you have experience with Energy Management Systems, Asset Management Systems, or Geographic Information Systems — skills that will enhance your ability to build a future-ready IT landscape.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • IT Infrastructure & Systems Architecture: Design, deploy, and manage on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud). Administer and optimize virtualised environments (e.g., VMWare, Hyper-V)
  • Network Monitoring: Monitor network configurations (e.g., VLANs, VPNs, firewalls) to ensure high availability and redundancy. Implement robust storage solutions, including SAN and NAS, with a focus on data reliability and scalability
  • Systems Administration & Automation: Configure and maintain Windows Server, Linux environments, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP. Develop and manage automated deployment scripts using tools like Ansible, PowerShell, or Terraform. Implement centralised logging (e.g., ELK Stack) and monitoring systems (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix) for proactive infrastructure management
  • Cybersecurity & Compliance: Establish cybersecurity protocols, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection. Configure and maintain IAM systems, including multi-factor authentication and role-based access control. Implement vulnerability assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, Qualys) and manage SIEM systems for real-time threat analysis
  • Project Management: Lead IT projects using Agile or Waterfall methodologies, managing timelines, budgets, and resources. Document and track all IT assets, configurations, and licenses using CMDB or similar asset management solutions
  • Vendor Management: Oversee external vendors, negotiating SLAs, and ensuring compliance with industry standards
  • IT Governance & Strategy: Develop IT policies for data protection, backup, disaster recovery (DR), and business continuity (BC). Create DR/BC runbooks and conduct regular drills to ensure readiness. Align IT strategy with business goals by identifying solutions to enhance productivity, efficiency, and security
  • Technical Leadership & Collaboration: Mentor a team of IT professionals, providing technical guidance in systems administration, networking, and security. Facilitate collaboration with development, finance, and operations teams to meet cross-functional needs
