Job Description

As a Commercial Manager for ACCIONA Agua, you will lead our national projects' commercial strategy and operations, overseeing tenders, managing contract administration, and supervising ongoing and future projects. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the effective management of contracts, providing guidance on commercial matters, and maintaining financial integrity across all stages of project execution.

This position will support ACCIONA in meeting both annual and long-term financial objectives, with responsibilities in contract management, project financial reporting, and strategic commercial guidance. You will contribute to the superior financial performance of ACCIONA Agua through proactive decision-making, accurate financial reporting, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contract Management & Commercial Support
    • Oversee contract administration, including client and supplier agreements, claims, variations, and risk management.
    • Provide commercial advice on project financials, ensuring adherence to financial management practices.
    • Lead commercial management initiatives on both client and supplier/subcontractor sides, optimizing contract performance.
    • Support the tendering process and oversee business development KPIs.

  • Financial Reporting & Forecasting
    • Deliver accurate, timely, and comprehensive project and company financial reporting.
    • Assist project staff in implementing financial management practices and monitoring project performance metrics.
    • Own and manage project financial forecasting and budgeting, ensuring robust analysis and decision support.
    • Perform and supervise progress claims, invoicing, and AP/AR functions as required.

  • Project Performance & Business Analysis
    • Track and evaluate project data (e.g., plant, labor, external suppliers) to drive performance improvements.
    • Provide proactive analysis of project performance to guide business decisions, ensuring alignment with ACCIONA’s financial goals.
    • Identify opportunities for cost savings and financial optimization across projects.

  • Continuous Improvement & System Development
    • Lead and participate in finance projects such as system upgrades and internal process improvements.
    • Develop and maintain templates, standards, and registers for consistent and effective contract management.
    • Contribute to strategic projects focused on enhancing financial reporting and contract efficiency.

  • Senior Management Support & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Act as a key member of the senior management team, collaborating on various strategic initiatives with the General Manager.
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including finance, project, and commercial teams, to align on project objectives.
    • Mentor project staff on financial and commercial management practices, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability.

Required Skills and Competencies

Minimum Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of finance or commercial management experience, preferably within construction or engineering.
  • Proven experience managing commercial contracts and delivering successful outcomes in a project-based environment.
  • Strong financial management and budgeting abilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
