Communications Associate

Major Function  

The Bezos Earth Fund is looking for a talented communicator to serve as our communications coordinator. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and comes to the position with an entrepreneurial, can-do approach where no project is too big or too small. You are a strong writer, researcher, and project manager who can juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced startup environment. 

 You will support the communications team in a variety of ways, including writing materials, editing and formatting documents, updating the website, conducting research, tracking projects and deadlines, and organizing the team’s folder system. You will also provide administrative support (e.g., scheduling meetings and taking call notes) for the communications team.

Key Responsibilities 

  •  Write, edit, format materials and content such as briefing materials, press releases, talking points, PowerPoint presentations, website pages, social copy 
  • Support grantee communications and requests 
  • Working with Digital Manager, support editorial calendar and website updates 
  • Working with Editorial Manager, support internal communication efforts 
  • Provide administrative support for communications team, including organizing meetings, supporting logistics and travel, and taking notes on calls 
  • Support management and organization of assets such as photos, videos, and documents 
  • Conduct media monitoring and compile media reports  
  • Build and maintain media and partner contact lists 
  • Plan, organize, and implement assigned projects working across teams as needed 
  • Conduct research 
  • Manage team projects, tracking progress and updates in project management tool 
  • Assist with event planning and management 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Education and Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree in related field with 2-3 years of relevant work experience in communications. 

 Skills and Abilities 

  • Energetic and passionate about the Earth Fund’s mission 
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and grammar skills 
  • Detail-oriented, skillful project manager who takes projects from ideation to execution  
  • Motivated self-starter who thrives in fast paced environment with multiple deadlines 
  • Strong team-oriented mindset willing to collaborate and be flexible to get the job done 
  • Demonstrates initiative, strong critical thinking skills; operates with good judgement and with discretion 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills requiring the courtesy, tact, and diplomacy necessary to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders 
  • Solid research skills 
  • Proficient in IT programs and tools such as Microsoft Office suite, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as SharePoint, Teams, Zoom and other collaboration platforms 
  • Familiarity with website content management systems (e.g., Craft, WordPress, Drupal, etc.) and social media management systems (e.g., SproutSocial, Hootsuite, etc.)   

 Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:  

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer 
  • May require extended hours for urgent issues or to meet established deadlines 
  • This position requires working in the office two days per week and living local to the DC area 
  • May undertake domestic and/or international travel 

 Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000
