We are Now Hiring a Dispatcher in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana

Responsibilities:  
 
  • Manage and oversee daily road service
  • Provide customer support responding to questions and concerns
  • Manage emergency situations for Operators
  • Schedules and dispatches drivers both via radio and window dispatch work
  • Answers calls from clients and schedule services
  • Enters data into spreadsheets and databases –
  • Maintains records, logs, and schedules of the calls received to schedule transit services, drivers dispatched, and customer cancellations or no-shows –
  • Prepares reports on all activities occurring during their shifts.
  • Assists with the preparation of daily schedules and work flow related to daily scheduling - Serves as an emergency contact for drivers in the field
  • Coordinates communications between drivers and other supervisory, Risk Management, and Training/Safety personnel.
  • Receives, research, and answers customer inquiries and requests regarding accounts, rates, and services offered.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and presents solutions to potential problem areas.
  • Trains, explains tasks, and assists in the solution of problems
Maintains close liaison with other departments to carry order through to completion.
  • Analyzes transactions, corrects records, and adjusts errors. - Professionally, courteously, and proficiently handle customer inquiries.
  • Receive and record comments and complaints, resolving such complaints to the extent authorized.
  • Schedule Paratransit trips per customer request in compliance with ADA laws.
  •  Directs drivers through radio contact
  • And other duties as required.
  
Requirements:  
 
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3-5+ years’ experience dispatching 
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal and customer service skills.  
  • Problem solving and analytical skills.  
  • Computer literate
  • A valid Chauffeur’s or Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and airbrake endorsements required.
Experience preferred: 
  • One to two years of dispatch and/or customer service experience preferred   kills and Knowledge Required:
  • Ability to organize logical and efficient schedules and routes and adapt to changes - Ability to read, comprehend and understand a map
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret transit system operating rules, regulations, policies, phases and routes
  • Ability to assist handicapped passengers when needed
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs - Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Clear speech and pleasant phone demeanor
  • Ability to use a multi-line phone system and handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups
  • Ability to deal patiently and friendly with external customer problems and complaints and remain courteous when faced with difficult or angry customers a must
  • Must be a team player yet able to work well independently
  • Must be able to work on various shifts or flexible work schedules
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and work well under pressure
  • Subject to a DOT physical exam and DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason
