What you’ll do: 

As the Director of Investment Strategy, you will oversee the strategic direction and implementation of Ethic’s investment initiatives with a focus on direct indexing and sustainable multi-asset investing. You will act in a hands-on role, collaborating with engineering, sustainability, and client-facing teams to deliver innovative and tailored investment solutions that align with Ethic’s mission.

More specifically you will:

  • Understand client problems and develop comprehensive investment solutions across direct indexing, multi-asset and sustainability principles that align with Ethic’s mission and growth
  • Design portfolio constructions and product investment solutions for customized, passive, public equity portfolios
  • Be the subject matter expert to communicate to a wide audience the quantitative risk models and optimization techniques used to manage equity and multi-asset portfolios.
  • Stay current on industry trends and regulatory developments related to direct indexing, tax management and sustainable investing, incorporating this knowledge into Ethic’s investment strategy.
  • Oversee the performance of Ethic’s investment book, identifying risks and solutions
  • Conduct in-depth investment research and analysis, including risk management, exposure assessment, sensitivity analysis, client specific customizations, tax overlays and the development of multi-factor models.
  • Collaborate with product teams to solve complex investment problems and build out new products in a scalable and thoughtful way
  • Partner with Relationship Management and Business Development teams to create and implement portfolio solutions for our clients
  • Prepare comprehensive investment reports and presentations, using data visualization to communicate insights to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Regularly document processes, conduct knowledge transfer sessions, and provide training to ensure best practices and continuous improvement across the organization

What you’ll bring to the table: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in asset management/portfolio management, ideally with a background in quantitative investment strategies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience working with institutional clients on investment solutions and presenting to clients on complex financial topics.
  • Experience with multi-factor risk models and tax-managed portfolio management
  • Experience creating and managing multi-asset portfolios (including fixed income and privates) is preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, with a commitment to mentoring and developing talent.
  • Background in sustainable investing is preferred, but not required

Compensation & Benefits: 

Compensation at Ethic is a combination of base salary, equity (stock options) in the company, and benefits. 

The base salary for this role will range from $195,000-$225,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
