Transdev Services, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Generalist (position hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) for its Boston Public Schools transportation contract. The Maintenance Generalist is responsible for performing and documenting minor facility repairs and improvements in a variety of trade disciplines at our 3 site locations under the direction of the Fleet and Facilities Administrator.

Responsibilities:
- Performs minor carpentry work including but not limited to the construction, alteration, repair, and/or installation of walls, stairs, floors, ceilings, windows, doors, locks.
- Performs minor electrical work not requiring a licensed electrician such as replacing light bulbs and fuses.
- Performs minor servicing and replacements of plumbing fixtures.
- Performs minor preventive maintenance and repairs to heating, ventilating, air conditioning equipment such as replacing belts on motors, changing filters, bearings, etc.
- Maintain machinery, equipment, and tools by cleaning, lubricating, greasing, and oiling, to ensure optimum working order.
- Performs structural repairs, alterations, and improvements such as applying plaster, paint, varnish and stain to all types of surfaces.
- Performs routine rounds and inspections of building utilities and systems and reports any concerns.
- Supports facilities safety requirements and goal objectives and ensures compliance with regulatory, corporate and site requirements.
- Works directly with vendors on site to assist with large scope facilities maintenance projects.
- Performs janitorial duties and snow removal.
- Reboots and/or replaces Lytx cameras.
- Replaces ZUM tablets.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required:
- A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must maintain an excellent motor vehicle driving record.
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Preferred:
- Graduation from a vocational school with a trade or technical concentration preferred.
- A Massachusetts registered Home Improvement Contractor (HIC) preferred.
- Possession of a valid building or construction trade license preferred.
Experience Required:
- Two (2) years of work experience performing general building or facility repairs and maintenance.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Experience Preferred:
- Building or facility repairs and maintenance experience in a commercial setting, preferred.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Knowledge in a variety of trade areas common to the field of building and facility maintenance.
- Knowledge of, the ability to use, and possession of standard hand tools, power tools, and equipment needed to perform basic building repair and maintenance tasks.
- Ability to read schematics, and other mechanical and/or electrical diagrams.
- Ability to read and write routine reports, forms, and other documentation or correspondence.
- Must demonstrate the ability to work in a safe manner.
- Must be able to comprehend maintenance and repair instructions and manuals.
- Must possess basic computer skills.
- Good written, verbal, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to organize and perform work efficiently and strong attention to details.
- Ability to effectively work with employees at all levels within the organization, the client, and vendors.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, stoop, squat, and walk for extended periods of time, use hands and fingers to handle small parts, push buttons, reach with hands and arms; and use legs and feet to climb ladders and stairs. Must lift 50 pounds; lift/carry 15 lbs. up to 100’; push/pull 50 lbs. up to 8’; and be able to squat.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time, which can be very hot in the summer months and cold during the winter months. The noise level in the work environment can be moderate to loud. Vibrations and fumes or airborne particles may also be present.
