Associate - Investments (Brookfield Asset Management - Credit)

Credit manages approximately $305 billion of assets globally, focused on a broad range of private credit investment strategies, including infrastructure and renewable credit, real estate, asset backed, and corporate credit. Position Summary:

The Associate – Investments, will be a key contributor of our growing credit team and will report to our Head of Corporate Credit. The role will be based in Brookfield’s New York city offices at Brookfield Place. 

This is a dynamic role with a flexible mandate. The scope of the mandate includes direct lending, private high grade and fund finance. While getting exposure to all facets of the business, the primary focus of this role will be on direct lending. The candidate will be expected to work on multiple deals simultaneously. The ideal candidate will be a team player that demonstrates exceptional communication skills, strong work ethic, collaborative mentality and an entrepreneurial attitude. An ideal background will be 3+ years of investment banking, buy side credit investing or private equity experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Screen and present new investment ideas

  • Underwrite investments and prepare investment committee materials – key member of the deal team focusing on due diligence and fundamental analysis including financial modeling and analysis and 3rd party diligence

  • Coordinate execution - legal, accounting, compliance, ratings, operations, etc.

  • Monitor investments (cradle to grave approach)

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from leading institution

  • 3+ years relevant work experience – investment banking, buy side private credit or private equity investing experience

  • Master in Finance or Accounting, CPA, MBA and/or CFA is a plus

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Self-motivated and proactive with the ability to operate independently

  • Team-oriented with a commitment to shared success

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop collaborative relationships at all levels in the organization

  • Excellent judgement and analytical skills combined with attention to detail and thoroughness

  • Excellent organizational skills to effectively manage priorities while meeting timelines

  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity

Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000

Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education and designations.
