HV Primary Design Engineer (Expression of Interest)

ACCIONA M&E is growing its project delivery team and seeking an experienced Primary Design Engineer - HV to join our in-house team of engineers. In this role, you will bring your expertise in high-voltage (HV) primary systems design to guide our tendering phases and project delivery, playing an essential role in meeting project milestones and maintaining our commitment to high-quality engineering standards.

As the Primary Lead Design Engineer, you will coordinate with a multidisciplinary team, providing technical oversight and ensuring the successful development and delivery of HV designs across a range of flagship projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: Oversee the design and development of primary HV systems, serving as the project technical lead from initial concept through project execution.
• High-Quality Design: Act as the point of expertise for primary HV engineering, supporting aspects of civil, structural, building, and site services engineering as they relate to HV systems.
• Collaborative Design Process: Work with engineers across disciplines to collect data, perform necessary calculations, and produce accurate designs that meet contractual and industry standards.
• Quality and Safety Oversight: Conduct site inspections and interpret work packages, ensuring compliance with ACCIONA’s high standards for quality and safety. Lead the development and review of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Plant Hazard Risk Assessments (PHRAs).
• Project Delivery Support: Coordinate project teams and resources to maintain timelines, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and safely.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a similar field.
• 5/7+ years of experience in HV primary systems design, including substantial work on substation designs and/or utility grid connections.
• Strong leadership abilities to guide project teams and mentor junior engineers.
• Deep knowledge of Australian industry standards for HV systems and substation designs.
• High-level communication and stakeholder management skills to facilitate effective collaboration and ensure client satisfaction.
